I do but I can't seem to keep more than about 10 dollars in it! I get a little bit stored up and then I run out of money and have to have gas or something! Do you keep a savings account?

I haven't had a savings account since I was a little kid. I have a checking account instead, and prefer that over the other. cdrxo

Anybody who's "saving" these days.... ....is probably making a lot more money than you or I. cdrxo

The concept of a "savings" account is great... I just can't leave the money alone. I'm like, if I need something and the money is there.. why save it?

Hahaha. I have one too, and I can't also seem to get my money to stay there.. I mean, I would save for like a month, and then after that before I know it I'd use up all the money that I saved. I have no chance in really making my savings account big, cause I just seem to use it all up all the time. It's really frustrating to save.

I hear that! That's exactly what is wrong with my account. The money won't stay there! hmmm..

Hahaha. I'm thinking about getting an account without ATM card. I would just ask for a passbook. that way I would have to go to the bank and fall in line before I can withdraw the money, instead of just going to any one of the 800 ATMs the bank have and just withdraw it without any hassle.

I do have a savings account but I have a lot more than $10 in it. I started it about a year ago and every so often I'll throw in $10 or so dollars once I get paid. That money has never been touched. I'm keeping it there just in case. It's like emergency money I suppose. Or if I happen to see something I really like or want, I may touch it but I'm trying to keep a surplus of extra cash just in case. I probably should transfer some more money into my savings account now that I think about it. I haven't done that for awhile.

That sounds great. Maybe when I get back to working regularly I can throw ten bucks in my account ever so often!

Yes I have both a savings and checking account. Thank God for my savings account because without that I don't know what I would be doing right now because I have not worked since May of 2008. Scary to be unemployed after working for 32 years of my 53 years on this earth.

I do have a savings account called an Instant ISA. When I worked I was able to put £100 a month in it which allowed me to save up for allsorts of things. Nowadays, due to being out of work the account is now frozen but I will use it once I start working again - hopefully, very soon.

I hope to start building my account. I think I have a job starting in about 3 weeks. I can go full time if I want. I probably will so I can get into my own apartment sooner!

Yes I have because you never know when you need the money the most. Because of my savings account I was able to sustain my needs when I dont have a job for a year. I was ten years old when I had my first savings account.

I got my first savings account when I was young. I started it when I began mowing yards in the summers. I need to get back to some of those good habits!

Is there a Wachovia where you live? I know your in the US but I'm not sure how widespread the Wachovia branch is. If so you can go there and set up a free checking account with way2save. Way2save automatically debits $1.00 from your checking account every time you use your debit card. Up to $300.00. You have to use your check card atleast once or twice a month I think, or they'll charge you $5.00. So at $300.00 you could take it out, put it somewhere else in the home to save, and then start all over again... of course you might want to check on the latter part, not sure if there's any repercussions for completely drawing $300.00 out. Hubby and I are planning to take out atleast most of it, and then start saving again that way.

I haven't ever heard of Wachovia. I use Chase because I travel and it's pretty much every where! It may be that they have such an account. I probably need to try to see if they can do that, it would help!

Hi, macdingolinger. Yes, I do have a savings account. I am like you too. I hardly put anything in mines either. All I usually will have is $5.00 that keeps my account open. If I have any money, I am always withdrawing what is left in it. So, I never seem to keep anything in my account. I am working on doing better, believe me. I want an Atm card, so I will have to try and keep my account much active so that I can acquire one. You are not the only one, I can never keep any money in my savings account. Nor, can I possibly put money in it. Being that, I have some extra change coming in now, I probably can at least, keep a few dollars in it every month.

I have a savings account. Last year my husband and I got married, and we had an extra job for some months in order to save up money for our wedding. When we got married we spent most of the money on the party and our honeymoon. After the wedding we started saving up again, and this time we plan on spending the money on travelling. We want to travel around in Europe in September or October, and we want to visit Germany, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Switzerland and Austria. We haven't got enough money yet, but I think that we will manage to save up money during the next 6 or 7 months.

I really need to figure out a way to save. Even if it's just a little bit at a time! I just haven't figured out how to keep the bills from coming in! I keep having to buy gas and groceries! Maybe one day!

yes i do and it helps alot, the truth is one needs to learn to be dicipline when having a savings account becuase you are tempted to go in and withdraw money almost all the time and this makes you spend all the money you tend to want to save in the savings account. all one needs to do is make a plan and when you earn first take out the money you need to spend for the month and then take a little fraction into the savings account for emergency purpose, with time as you learn to be decipline you will find out that you have increased the amount of cash you have in your savings. thanks thats my opinion

I couldn't agree more. I just need to figure out how to keep money in the savings account. Otherwise I will need to rename it and call it a constantly dwindling account!

till then, i don't have any saving account or any other banking account, its seems quite ridiculous but its really true, but i am thinking very seriously about that, that in next few months or in this year, i will definitely open any account over some of the good banks where core banking services are available like net banking, atm, debit card, credit card, online money transfer etc, it really a requirement of hour, to get paid from several online job work for paypal payments and alertpay payments like mylot, my page5 etc

I don't know how you get paid if you don't have an account. It is all too much for me to keep up with. I have two accounts and then the savings account too. Maybe I should pull it all back!
