I have heard this and seen this too many times he or she makes a six figure income and so can you. I just want to know where did someone come up with this number and what exactly does it mean six figures of what divided by what? Or what is it? How much money are they talking about? Is it way over $50,000 a year is it more? I am confused.

A six figure salary is an enourmous amount of money, obviously depending on the currency it could be lower but ninety-nine percent of the time it will be a great deal more. The six figures part just refers to the numbers (a figure means a number), so $50,000 is a 5 figure salary whereas £199,158 is a six figure salary

A six-figure salary is one where you have a number with four zeros after it. e.g. $100,000 has six digits or six-figures.
