Do you ever set a system restore point on your computer?

For those of you that download a lot of things or hack the regstry it is a good thing. I usually set a system restore point everyday. Well I hack the regstry on my computers all the time. So I try to keep it to where I can go back to before I installed or been in the regstry. I set the restore point to before I get on the computer. In XP it is easy to set a syster restore point. Right click on the computer icon and select properties and there you will see the system restore. You go to that tab and create a restore poing. In vista it is much harder to find you have to go to control panel then to system then to advance system settings. Then a panel will pop up and you will see system restore there. Click on that and creat a system restore point. So do any of you create a system restore point? How often do you do this? Do you hack the regstry? Do you have any tips to speed up vista?

My computer sets a system restore point every few days. If I'm changing anything in the computer, adding a new program, downloading, etc, I'll set a restore point before doing that. It just makes life easier to know I can go back to a day where it operated better if there turns out to be a problem. Very handy, and there have been a few times where I was glad I did that ahead of time! I don't have Vista, so I cant give any tips there. Maybe you can make a shortcut icon to rest on your desktop so you can find it easier? Or maybe a folder to rest on the desktop with that in it? Mine's easy to find, but if I did it as much as you do, I'd probably like a shortcut too!

Any tips to speed up Vista? The best tip is: buy windows 7. Vista is too plumpy to run with the least amount of speed on a decent computer.
As for your main question, sure I make restore points. Even if that wouldn't do the trick I just do a complete reinstall of my computer: I save important files on USB sticks and I am saving money for an external HDD.
