If you are over 30 years of age, do you think your I.Q. has improved as you have gotten older or has it lessened? Are you smarter now than you were when you were younger? Do you think you lose your ability to learn, if you don't try to stay mentally active? In other words, as they say, if you don't use it, you lose it? Share your impressions.

Oh, I guess my IQ has improved for sure with the age. I remember, when I was young, I made lot of IQ test, and never got a score higher than 92. Several months ago I tried again and... surprise! I got a 101! So is for sure improved, and not so few ;) Have a nice day.

...Hi pierone, That is impressive and I think it proves that you can broaden the scope of your intelligence level. I do think that if you keep your mind active, read, and participate in things which test your mental acuity, even crossword puzzles, you can improve your mental capacity. I remember getting a promotion, when I was working and going through the training and doing very badly on the first test because I had not done any studying for a while. After reading more and getting more involved in the class, I returned to my higher proficiency level, which woke me up to the fact that I had to challenge my mind or possibly go backwards. Thanks for your response. Take it easy.

Yeah, I wish I will be able to reach at least 104 in the next ten years. If my IQ will continue to increase with the age, I calculated I will reach the Uncle Alby IQ when I will be 137 yo.

...Hi there again pierone, I wish you well in your mission to reach 137 in time. I have no idea where my IQ is at this point in time. When I was 16, I took an IQ test and scored a 105. That was mamy hundreds of years ago. "o) So again, it is very necessary to keep your mind active and focused, so that you don't get out of practice and lose ground. Just remember to have fun, while you are at it. Take care.

I'm sure my IQ has improved slightly as I've aged. I'm not sure about lately but several years ago, my IQ was still up there.

....Hi there MsTickle, That's because you read, write and chase after, or get chased by those emus :o). I do believe if you stay active and engage your mind in things, even doing crossword puzzles, for stimulation, people should be fine. I've heard a few different stories but one was that starting to use yournondominate hand can activate new brain cells. Some people stand on their heads. I have tried hanging my head over the side of the bed for a little while before getting up for the blood to flow to my brain. Every littlebit helps the old grey matter I guess. Thanks for yourinput, you will be up there for a long while. The emus will make sure. Take care. Sorry about the spacing, the computer goes nuts sometimes.

The passing of time has made me a seasoned person which see my I.Q improving rather than shrinking. If I could have gotten my present IQ when I was in my college days I would have earned 4 flats in all my exams. Age has no bearing on a person's IQ as long as you keep feeding it with up to date information or exercising it daily by being a great thinker. Not doing anything to refresh the mind will only reduce its strength which eventually leads us to senility thus reducing the effectiveness of the brain that would greatly reduce our IQ.

I think my reasoning ability and my compassion for people has improved but my memory is definitely not as good as when I was younger. I used to be very sharp as to remembering information, names, places, songs, lyrics. Now I quickly forget names. But I write down things I want to remember. It's just that I forget where I wrote it.

...Hi there 1hopefulman, You just gave me my hearty laugh for the evening. Thank you. I wrote about exercising in bed once somewhere and as a part of that I suggested, holding your head over the side of the bed and let the blood flow into your brain. Which, as I understand it, will improve your memory. Also something called Folic Acid is suppoased to help your memory and ward off dementia. As you, I have to remember to take it. thanks so much for stopping by. Take care.

...Hi there etioewe, You are totally right, I have experienced it first hand. That if we don't stay mentally active, your capacity to learn and retain slips away. Just by reading books and finding out about things you did not know before, keeps your mind stimulated. As I mentioned before on here, starting to use your non-dominate hand is supposed to create new brain cells. Keep yourself active mentally and keep your abilities sharp, may even stave off symthoms of dementia. Writing certainly would help I would think. Take care and thanks.
