What would be your reaction? Scenario 1 Imagine you had a busy day the whole day, and you are finally home and is sleeping soundly. Suddenly, your phone rings at midnight/odd hours and it turned out to be a prank call by someone you don't know, what would be your reaction? Will you get angry and it caused you not to be able to continue your sleep, or will you be simply too tired that you continue your sleep? Scenario 2 Now again, same scenario and you got awaken by a text (greeting) message from an acquaintance. And this happens again for the next day, and the next day and so on... What reaction will you have? Eg, contact the acquaintance to stop the text messages or switch your cellphone to silent mode for incoming text message? Please share with me your thoughts. Thanks

hI! I take the first scenario- if someone who i really don't know calls me late at night after i was having a busy day, i will listen to him nicely and calm, because I hve never liked quarrels and i think I must give him a chance to explain me who is he and why is he calling me at that time

Hi, you are a kind person with a big heart. I don't think I will be able to have that much patience in dealing with such a person. Actually both scenarios happened to me and I am still regretting not dealing with the person who called me at 5 am making disgusting sounds.

If it is a prank call, of course I will be mad and even send that number a message asking what he/she wants. Usually when I am really tired, I can be awaken by the ring of the phone but can fall asleep fast. Most of the time, i put my phone on silent mode and even put it under my pillow since I sleep with it beside me.

I see. A pity that time when the incident happen to me(someone called me at 5am), it was a private number and there was no way that I can track back who he is. Hopefully that would be the one and only time that I get disturbed at such hours. Hopefully no one will get such prank calls and thank you for sharing. Cheers

In scenario one, I would get very upset. I may even get mad. I'm not sure how it would affect my sleep, but I would say that atleast for a few minutes I would not want to go back to sleep. Now for scenario two, we don't keep our cellphone on, so we wouldn't hear a text. If we did perhaps have it on (as we have had it on and near our bed in the past) I would just turn the ringer to silent, of course after checking to see if the text wasn't urgent. I would ask the acquaintance later to please stop texting me so late at night!

Years ago when i would text and someone texted me late at night I would usually just text them back and go right back to sleep, it wouldn't bother me. I was a light sleeper but would be able to get back to sleep. I'll be getting my own phone again and not be sharing with my husband soon, so when I do I figure I may receive text messages at odd hours. My husband works third shift so he may text me, or my cousin who also works third shift my text me. I figure it won't bother too much.

it seems some of us can go back to sleep in 20 seconds. I'd use moistened tissue paper as ear plugs if I did not have real ear plugs. Also I'd keep the phone in "silent" mode. cheers

Wrong number calls in the middle of the night are very annoying. As for an acquaintance with a text, I recently had to tell a friend to stop waking me up.

I used to not switch mine off for the same reason. If you put the phone on silent you will not miss the call. If someone wakes you in the middle of the night with something "important" there is very little you will be able to do for them. If the phone is on silent you will still see the call and if they leave a message you can still respond.

Hi Canellita, yes. I really dislike waking up in the middle of the night just to listen to annoying calls. But I can't switch it to silent as I am afraid that I will missed that important call. As for the texting issue, I hope people will just understand that texting someone is fine as long as it is not within odd hours. If not, it can be sure a pain and in the end, we have to tell them off in order to be save from those messages. Hopefully no one will get into such situations anymore and thank you for sharing!
