'today's top discussion'

I've noticed that many of the topics of discussion on here are pretty shallow. I think people post to that kind of topic because you don't really have to say much. Are they doing it just to get paid? Or are some people really that boring? I poke around in here looking for things that sincerely interest me, I don't see this as a big money maker!

ksmita to begin with mylot admins probably uses software which is not like a person just reading and deciding whats best, and the software probably just picks those discussions which though really lame get a lot of responses from mylotters who look for short easy to answer brainless discussions,this shows just how much intellect versus easiest way out plays out in answering these silly discussions. I never make really inane ones like that myself as they seem to go nowhere.The only time that a discussion of that kind of stuff can be really funny is if you post a discussion making fun of these inane discussions .I have done that sevral times and really got some responses too from others who think those discussions are inane too. I think they need to change their software to reflect the most quality discussions not the most popular.

We do not know the formula used to select the "top discussions" but I suspect the number of responses received would be included in the formula. Discussions like the ones you mention will receive many responses, because a quick short reply will appeal to many members. It would be difficult for myLot Admin to select top discussions based on quality, as it would mean reading and evaluating every discussion - something which would take an enormous time and therefore cost. I even doubt that a keystroke count would make a difference, because 50 very short responses to a nonsense discussion would probably equal a handful of responses to a top quality one. MyLot does its best to make this a happy lot for the members and continually improves the site. Many inconsistencies have been eliminated and I am sure this is one that will receive more attention in time. Meanwhile, it is easy for us to skip over the nonsense ones and reply to the quality ones.

i think we are being paid here for our own activities, for participating in the discussions. we are encouraged to make good quality posts but it doesn't automatically mean that we earn for it. we earn from responses we received from our own discussions, by responding to others discussion, etc. but even non-sense (if what other people call them) topics earn. being at the top discussion list, doesn't automatically mean it's a good quality or a good quality discussion do not automatically get a slot in today's top. being on the top list mean, the discussion is well participated by members. there's the response-comment-comment system that you can find in top posts list of the day.

I think the "top discussions" not select qualitatives posts but only posts where people like to answer or find it interestant (politic/religious or others things) or funny/stupids like "Do you eat with closed or opened mouth?" XDDD.

do you fell over your bed while sleeping? is your bathroom colored or white 'which is your favorite part of pizza? Nothing wrong I find there that those are short of quality to be top. Top are selected on the basis of response. And top discussion is not selected only on the discussion posted. The response posted are also counted. Personal thinking is not a matter here. The quality of those discussions are that they attract user and user feel the tenancy to respond them. As they bring the attention ... Is not quality of the discussion? And on those topics we can make quality discussion.

Hello kasmita.. yes you are right.. but tell me.. how you say this website is only for fun.. and i think.. this is not for fun.. because here we can learn many things.. and mostly people say.. when they want to take some break.. from their job.. then they use mylot.. and feel fresh.. yes.. it is true.. because here we ask any questions freely and their is no any boundation of asking..so.. any person ask any questions.. but it also be remembers quality is must in your question or any other posting.. have a nice day and keep mylotting always..
