Imagine that we did not have television in our lives at all, ever, never invented. What would we be doing without it? How would communucation to the masses be accomplished? Share some of your ideas and thoughts.

We would probably all be better of for a number of reasons without television but it is part of my life, I love it and I'm not giving it up. I think though if I had to pick between the TV and the computer I would problably pick the computer. It's more entertaining in many ways.

....Hi snowy22315, I think most people would choose the computer, as you can access just about anything on it. Plus there are so many other facets that the computer offers that the television does not. I do like my game shows, and a few other things, but I am finding that my television is becoming more background noise as I work on my computer. I am sure I would miss my television if it were not around, but not as much, since my computer would hopefully be available. Thanks so much for responding and take care.

I think I'd read a lot more. lol And I think the world, from a cultural standpoint, would be a bit different. I'm not sure how though.

...Hi there UpsideDownPineapple, You make me hungry "o). I think you are right, we would probably read more and communicate more. Which would be a good thing. I think that as a society there might be less violence, less depression, our brains would not be filled with the day in and day out negative news. We would be more caring about each other, because we would not have to be exposed to people being hurt by other people, the stealing, the kidnappings. These things affect your mental state. So over all, though there are some things that help to instruct us and inform us on television, there is too much of a negative influence at times, especially on the children via the television. Glad it is here, but we could use less of the negativity. Take good care and thanks.

...Hi there cher, My television serves the same basic purpose. I am usually working on the computer and the television serves as the peanut gallery. I have a few channels that I watch on a daily basis sometimes, but I find that there is a lot of nothing on the set. Somebody needs to decide to rework something to stop the monotony of agenda. Thanks so much for your response and take good care.

I think that without television we would be a lot better off. We would not be worrying so much, and our health would be better. We'd probably be farming, we would play outdoor games, and if the weather was bad, we would be reading, or writing, or doing house chores that needed to be done. We'd call friends and family more, and we'd visit them more as well. Sure there are some things that are good that we wouldn't know, or wouldn't have known as fast, but I think that without t.v. we don't worry, so we're healthier, we get around and do other things, so we're healthier... etc.

....Hi SomeCowgirl, I totally agree with your thought. We get so depressed, I think with some of the things that are broadcast, and I don't think most of us realize why. We are hit with bad news from here and bad news from there, so much so that we constantly go around with mental weariness and wonder why we are not happier people. We probably would be better off just cutting the television off sometimes and reading or listening to music. There is an overload of negative information that I feel we could do without. Thanks for your response and take good care.

To be honest with you i hardly wastch the tv now as i am always on the internet doing things rather than watching the tv.The only things that i watch on the tv are the usual soaps and if i miss some of them then i can watch them on the internet. There are always repeats on the tv so if they did away with tv i would not be that bothered.

....Hi jugsjugs, I too am at my computer rather than watching television. I would first have to find something of interest on it that I would take the time to watch. The cable movies are repeated each week, with not much change. Boring. The news is so negative that you do yourself a favor not watching it. So my computer is my haven. I do like the curling sport on the Olympics. Thanks and take care.

hi! I think there will be no difference at all, because nowadays all the televisions and channels broadcast the same thing and i think we can get all the information from internet too! I don't have a TV now, becaues I live by my cousin and he doesn't have any, but I actually don't see any difference between the time when I got one and now

..Hi there phoenix8606, Seriously I think you are in a better place without watching television so much. Although there are some very interesting educational things on the television, there is, I feel, an over abundance of negative things that are thrown at us on a daily basis, that we are mentally fatigued at the end of the day. So the fact that you are not watching television, probably helps you to be more positive. Just a thought. Take care and thanks.

During the age of the internet and texting, there really is not much need for television. You can watch tv from your computer, check out all of the news websites, so many things you can do online. I honestly watch very little, there is not a lot of good shows on anymore.

...Hi sassy28, You are correct, the internet has basically taken over. You are able to watch videos, movies, news, whatever on the internet. But I do wonder if the television had not been invented, would the internet have been invented anyway? I don't know. My televison is used as background noise as I work on the computer, also as a sleeping pill when I go to bed. So in that regard I would miss having it around. "o) Thanks for responding and take care.

I think our lives wouldn't be too different, because the internet has now replaced the mighty television in terms of main communication / entertainment hub, in my opinion I don't watch much television nowadays anyway. The amount of adverts they have is quite frankly ridiculous I think

Well the internet seems to have replaced TV anyway. But without TV we might be a bit more active, a bit thinner than now, and maybe even have more time to do nothing. TV does take a lot out of the day even if you are watching on the internet. The newspaper still exists so news would still be communicated through the paper. But seems that TV has made us more lazy and less creative.

well i am very sure human race would have had invented something else to cover communication problems. i think humans will be just fine. just imagine that today is the modern day and somethings are not yet invented and still here we are still doing fine. for example fast forward we are in the future and our cars are flying already. it would be like asking someone "what if flying cars were never ever invented what would it be like"=)
