Duodenal Pain

Okay so I don't really know where to post this but I guess health is close enough to medical. My boyfriend gets these really really REALLY bad stomach pains about twice a year or so, and he's had this for about 5 years, so I've heard. He supposedly got an x-ray checkup about 2 years ago where they couldn't tell what was wrong with him, but they wanted to do surgery and suggested that he had a problem with his duodenum. The surgery was going to shorten it or something, so his parents didn't want to let him go through with the surgery. The closest thing I could find was duodenal ulcers, but he doesn't have any of the symptoms such as nausea or vomiting or anything, just the really really bad stomach pain. I told him to go see a doctor again but supposedly his doctor is always booked full for two weeks and the pain is already gone by then. Does someone know what's wrong with him or have something similar and can give advice? A friend of mine and I are looking up stuff on this already, but any extra advice would be very helpful. Thanks in advance, MyLot.

my son that has medical training does say its a stomache thing. anyway its very important that your boyfriend has this checked out. it could lead to very scarey things. like not being able to pass waste etc. why does he not go to the doctor anyway, and explain what happens on these occasions? i know its scarey to go anyway when you are no longer in pain, because you are afraid of what it might be. im the same way but maybe you should keep at him on it.
