every time a computer screen is shown on a video or taken a picture of it always looks like its flickering or bands going through it. why is that? i mean at first i would think maybe it had to do with something about the camera quality but even when you watch the news and they are reporting somewhere and there are computers in the background they are distorted too and you would think the news would have the best cameras for taping things.. is it how the screen is made or what? not that many people have reasons to take pictures of computer screens but when they are in the background it always made me wonder

hi! that only happens when we watch some video and it actually happens, because the movie is with a speed from 24 cadres per second and we shoot with less, and that's why we see the stripes no our photos or videos!

That is a very good question. I have taken some pictures of things on the computer screen, and whether I aim my camera at a traditional monitor, or a flat-screen, I still get weird things happening to it. Aim it at the flat screen and I get lines, aim it at the traditional one, and i get a glare. Thank GOD I figured out how to do screenshots on my laptop.

Its the refresh rate - the screens flicker down as they update. If you slow the refresh rate on your monitor it gets really flickery and cameras tend to pick up on that.

You go into the advanced options for display properties under monitor and change the drop down for the refresh rate. The slower it is the more your eyes will notice a flicker (at least i notice and it drives me bonkers!)
