Here is a lovely old theater we visited last weekend. Do you have a lovely old theater in your town, either a movie theater or a public theater that has shows and such.

We have the famous Majestic Theater here in San Antonio. I've never actually been there, but I hear it is beautiful. I want to go see a show there soon. I would like to see Shrek on Broadway. I think the whole family would enjoy that.

Will it still be there in the summer? We could all go together!

I live in a small town out in the country. The nearest bigger town had a movie theater there since before I was a child (and I'm 60 now.) The movie theater shut down about 15 years ago, or so, and then about 10 years ago it was adopted by a little theater group. It has the most charming art deco architecture and styling! Nice to see it restored to it's glory days. Now it's back to being a theater providing entertainment for everybody. The nearest actual movie theater is in a much larger town, and it's a good half hour drive for us, so we don't go much anymore unless it's to a matinee showing at the reduced prices.

Yes, Our town does have a nice old theater. It is located in the down town area. I don't know exactly how it is but it is very old, it was closed down for a while but somebody renovated and opened it back up around 10 years ago. They have a lot of good events there. I have been to handful of things there, the theater is very detailed in its structure.

Historical Fox Theater It's one cool place. On occasion they do show a movie there still, but mostly it's stage type shows now. I loved going there as a kid to watch the movies and sitting in the balcony. They've done an awesome job restoring it to it's glory from the early 1900's. Marsha

In the city where I grew up there used to be many small movies theaters. When I was a child I sometimes went to watch a movie with my father and my brother, and I liked those small movie theathers. Unfortuneately they no longer exist, because in the 90's, they built a new movie theater and closed the small ones. The new movie theater is close to the trainstation (in the same building) and the atmosphere is very different from the old movie theaters. I have been there, but I don't really like it that much.

Yeah, I live in a very very local town of my country. But I am really feeling lucky just now that I can say there is 200 years old theater in this town. Unfortunately, I am not interested in theater so I go there very rare.

We have a couple of "grand dames" of the silver screen in downtown Austin, The Paramount and The State http://www.austintheatre.org/site/PageNavigator/venues/paramount/history http://www.austintheatre.org/site/PageNavigator/venues/state/statehistory The Paramount was in better shape and has been returned to much of its former glory, but the last time I was in the State, the lobby area was basically down to studs, even the staircase looked makeshift...

Our city has a really old theatre (like 30's or 40's old I think O.o I think it was the first building out in this city to get air conditioning) It was closed down back during like the 70's and was only opened back up a short while ago, over a million dollars was invested in it to make it usable again, I think the place is absolutely gorgeous. It's just WOW, I has only one screen, but the place is gorgeous.
