Do you groom your pet yourself? Or you are too busy and you prefer to pay a professional groomer to groom your pet (cat or dog)? I have just given a bath my dog and it is fun. I try to use these moments to check she is in good health that she does not have any lumps and that everything is fine with her. Do you hate grooming your dog or cat?

I have to say that TO ME not liking to groom your pet yourself is like not wanting to bathe your kids ya know....If you arent goin to take care of your pets who IMO are a part of the family (at least in our house anyway) then DON'T HAVE THEM.... I LOVE bathing andn brushing our dogs cause they are just TOO funny....its a messy job (bathing) that has to be done outside due to their size but its highly entertaining

I agree with this very much Ravenlady, but with the kind of breed my dog is (shihtzu) they are supposed to be groomed and look a certain way. We do bath her and brush her but we do take her to a groomers every 6 months or so so that she can get her shihtzu look!

I have dogs myself. There are only 2 that I take to the groomers. I do that because if I do it myself I would probably screw it up and make them look really goofy. They need to be trimmed or else they become really hairy and matted. The other dogs are all home bathed etc. Plus now my groomer has started to dye the dogs hair. One has a pink tail the other one is lavender. I lve it and they really stick out now. My groomer checks to make sure they have no lumps, checks their teeth and whatever else.

I do all of the grooming myself. I think it gives us more personal one on one time together. I don't feel well some times and my husband will do it for them. I enjoy grooming my babies. They get massages from me too.

Just a minute ago I did it, bathing my cute little shitzu pup, he is already 4months now, and like what I really done before I do inspect his body. I just got a little problem in the back part of her ear something a little red in his skin and it is itchy. Maybe I just talk to his vet about this.

I keep my cat as clean as possible, however I prefer to send my pet to a professional for the exceptional grooming that they have been trained to provide. I think it is like pampering for my Pearl and I love her enough to spend that money on her. I love going to the hairdresser so I figure she does too.

Hi Ronald, I have two large dogs and when they were smaller I used to groom and bath them, now though as they have got big and their fur is long as much as I try to keep the matts out it is a never ending job as for bathing them it is the hardest thing ever as I have a really bad back so call it lazy or not i do send them to a groomer where they are treated well, bathed groomed ec and looked so good when they get home so will continue to do this as now I am not able to do it myself... I make the hubby do it. Our dog is too big for me to do it. She's pretty good just whines the whole time. Then he also does her nails with that pet sander thing. It's too expensive to pay for someone else to do it all the time. My grandmother has a toy poodle that she pays an Amish lady to groom so it's not too expensive. She could do it herself however she likes the lady so much she'd rather give her the job than bother with it herself and she can afford it.

I comb my cats. I do not generally bathe them, they do not need it. I put a flea killer on them monthly. The long haired cat needs the most care for his hair. He is beautiful, but sheds a lot, as well. My black cat is like velvet. My old cat is just that, and old cat. He looks okay, but he is really old and his coat is not as sleek.

Oh, I groom my own dog. But my dog is small, so it is easy. With my poor health, if my dog were larger, I'd probably have to take my dog to a groomer. But Sherlock, my dog, is easy to take care of. He never needs to have his hair trimmed, and it isn't that hard to get him to be still for a bath. He loves to have his fur coat combed. He's so cute.

We do bath our dog yes, and I do trim around her eyes so that she can see (she's a shihtzu) but she does go to a groomers every 6 months or so! We always make sure to get her hair cut really short for the summer so she's not roasting, and we try to keep it longer in the winter so she doesn't freeze.

i do the grooming except the nails and anal gland afraid id mess those up. anyway, its funny, i seldome give coco a bath because she already has a lot of allergies and i cant seem to find a really good soap for her. so i only bath her about once a month to 6 weeks. i do brush her at least 3 times a week sometimes more. she loves it. but for some reason she is scared of baths even tho i baby her the whole time. its like if im even thinking of a bath for her she hides. its like she can read my mind!!

I like to groom my dog myself. In our area only recently 2-3 pet saloon have come up but they are very costly and I am not that rich to spend so much on getting my dog bathed at a saloon. More over my dog is tiny with very short hair. His bath does not take more than 3 minutes and after drying him with his towel, I take him in the sun with his rug and chair near by. While he rubs his face on the rug, I clean his ears from inside and by the time his paws and ears are cleaned, he is dry and as soon as I open his leash, he runs inside.

Moomin loves being groomed and will often ask me to brush him. I enjoy brushing and grooming Moomin, although he is a short haired cat he still needs to be groomed regularly. We can spend ages with him laying on his back on the sofa while I gentle brush through his fur. It's very relaxing for both of us :-D

i would love to groom my own pet. i have two dogs and a parrot and i make sure that i spend quality time for them as they make me happy. leaving them in pet grooming shops is very costly and saddening for a lot of pet animals, so ensure that it is me that makes them presentable and healthy at all times.

Any work that needs to be done to my pets I prefer to do myself. They know me and trust me which is important for them. The only thing I refuse to do is clip their nails. But, the rest I do myself. Its important for them that I do. I've got two cats and the grooming I do brings us closer together.

My husband and I groom our dog ourselves simply because it cost too much to take him to the groomer. He is a Mini Schnauzer and doesn't shed so if his hair grows too much it will start to matt, and most groomers charge extra for that. As for the cats, they groom themselves, except for the occasional brushing we give the long hairs.

Grooming your pet by yourself and with out any professionals help is a great way for you and your pet to bond each other. Pets loves their owner when the owner itself groom them, take them a bath, clean them and play with them, it gives the pets sense of security and belonging. Yes I groom my pet by my self it a great way to have fun with your pets and beside Pet spa and professional groomers are expensive. ^ ^

I have 8 dogs 5 of them are short hair dogs and don't really need grooming to much. Just the occasional bath. One has longer hir she is 70 pounds and loves te water so she alwas bathes herself and 2 of them I take to the groomer. Acocker with long hair and a chow spaniel mix. She is older and starts panting and pulling out her hair when it gets to long. Bathing your dog is a lot of fun and its great for bonding.
