When You Were A Child Did You Think There Was Something Scary in Your Room?

Many kids are scared of the dark because they have this imaginary scary thing or things in their room. Me I thought there was an evil ghostly wolf under my bed. My 6 year old son says there are orange guys ready to pop out of the closet at any moment to get him. Did you have a scary imaginary something that hid in your closet or under your bed as a child?

When i was younger i was rather scareless for this stuff. I was able to sleep alone without a problem and i really didnt care. My siblings sometimes asked me about that, and they were like you never have fear?

You are very lucky that nothing ever frightened you as a child.

Yes, I have some memories about being scared beacause something was under my bed, I don't remember if I had an idea of what it was, I think I thought it was just a creepy monster living down there at night or inside the closet. I remember when I was about 6 I used to sleep with a stuffed toy it was a tiger, and I belived that if I slept with it next to me it would scare the monsters and protect me :P

When I was little I was terrified of aliens. Now that I think of it is silly but I always slept with a light on with my closet and window curtains closed and made sure to never watch the show x-files before bed. My daughter is scared of dinosaurs under the bed! lol

I sure did have some scary imagination when I was still a child...I do have some vivid imaginations of some sort and at an early age I really love watching horror movies...i don't know why i'm like that but I also read scary stories. In my case I always believed there were skeletons walking in our garden and that there were zombies living in our backyard. Yeah, and that's the reason I never sleep alone when I was still very young...I always get scared of the dark and so I sleep with the lights on. But when I got older I overcome this weird ideas of mine and now I can't sleep with the lights on.

Many kids are really scared of the dark. You might say I'm weird but I am 26 years old and I am still afraid of the dark. I dont wanna be left alone in a dark room, i dont wanna be left alone in my house at night, I also dont want to walk in a dark hall way, etc. I am scared. I am really scared and I know I have to overcome it because it is not good.

I am sorry you feel that way. Hopefully you can figure out what it is that scares you so much about the dark.

I used to scare dark and think there were ghosts in my room as a child. I never went out alone at night and whenever i went out, i would ask my mom to accompany me. Sometimes when i was walking in the street, i felt like someone was chasing me behind. Now i'm a grown up, i know what i thought was absurd and ridiculous. There is no ghost at all. But it is the habit of almost all the kids to be sacred of dark.

The illest thing was like if there was a pile of clothes in the room or in the hall. At night the shadows would scare the heck outta me! Sometimes like the clothes hanging in the closet at night would have this same effect. Had to close the doors. I wasn't too afraid of the dark just the things in the dark. Never nothing under the bed either lol. Your son may have had a dream and is having a recurring dream due to his fear. That has happened to me in my childhood. Though it is fueled by an overactive imagination, it is a fear he may have developed regardless. Maybe, I am no expert but I seem to remember being scared of bubbles floating over my bed at night. They would hold me in place and then I'd get really sick to my stomach. Had that crazy dream for years. Still I wasn't so afraid of it. Just didn't like having the dream..

Well, for one, I thought our house was haunted. There used to be this horrible sound that would happen. I don't know what it was. Maybe it was the furnace, but to me it sounded like a monster who wanted to eat me. I used to lay under my covers and I wouldn't move. I usually fell asleep like that. I also thought there were aliens staring at me through the windows. Again, I thought if I didn't move, they couldn't see me! LOL - it is pretty funny now.

I used to think that if I didn't sleep with the covers tucked underneath my feet somebody would be able to drag me out of bed. The silliest thing is I still can't get to sleep even as an adult without tucking the covers underneath my feet now lol,

That'll be the Ankle Grabber who lives under the bed!! He is an accomplice of Jumble Joan who lives in the wardrobe... (a couple of great kids books)

well I can't remember reading books like that but who knows where it came from and isn't it amazing what we do as a kid influences what we do as an adult lol,

Yes all the time I would have to check under my bed and in all the closets and cabinets and anywhere someone or something could hide. Even behind the bathroom shower curtain. L.O.L. I still check some times

Hi there ladym33... Well, even though I am 17 now, sometimes I feel that there is something scary inside my room especially under the bed... This scary feeling is much scarier whenever I finish watching scary movies (even though I really love watching scary movies...) It really depends upon the time, especially when it's Halloween... ^^

Scary movies can really do a number on our minds. I once saw a movie where there was a ghost in the floor. Once the lights were out I would never look down at the floor. Even if I had to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I would not look at the floor, actually tripped over things a few times because of that.

When I was a little kid, I was afraid to let my arm and/or leg hang off the side of the bed. I guess in my thinking at the time, if there was something under my bed, then it couldn't get me like that. But yeah, I did think there was a monster hiding under my bed when I was a kid.

when i was a child i used to be scared with darkness coz i can imagine those hanging clothes as ghost specially when they move. and so i wanted to have the light on but the problem is my parents cant sleep with light on so they told me that ghost can see me if the theres light and its easy for other scary creators to see me with light and because of that thats why i agree to turn off the light when we sleep.

Hello Ladym, I wasnt afraid as a kid until I saw a black figure walk by my door one night. My mom would always leave a small light in the kitchen and I could see the light as my door was left ajar. It really scared me and then its like the black figure must have turned around and I could see only his black hand moving from left to right. By black, I dont mean necessarily a black person. I know it was a man, he had on a black hat, long black coat and black gloves. I couldnt make out the face. I can still see it as if it happened yesterday. After that night, Id jump out of my bed as far as possible as I was convinced he was hiding under my bed. Id sleep with the closet door open so I could make sure he wasnt in there.
