there's a product made by " cutter " available in wal-mart or home depot that attaches to your garden hose and when sprayed around your house and gutters will keep them at bay for up to 2 months and kill their eggs, it's for mosquitos only, and cost about 7 dollars a small price for keeping those little buggers away. make sure you spray all shady areas and gutters where they lay their eggs. i live on the water in florida and their already out buzzin around, 10 minutes of your time with the hose will give you great relief. also make sure there;s no standing water around your home as in pots or gullies around the home give them a good spray also. it;s the only thing i have found so far that helps

that's a very good idea..unfortunately I live in Indonesia. I don't think that we have product like that. as I know, there are only some products to send away the mosquitoes but not for the eggs in the water. actually we have a kind of product to kill eggs in the water but I think the result is not too satisfying. so people here keep using coil or electric mat just o send away not kill the mosquitoes..

BTW - Somebody once told me that leaves of a specific plant (I dont remember which one) keeps mosquitos away so growing some plants like that around the house, or using them inside the house might help.

it is said that leaves of NEEM plant keep mosquito's away and growing a neem plant in yr garden keeps not only the mosquitoes away, but chewing its leaves makes our blood pure. I also keep dry leaves of this plants in my woolen clothes.

I heard of neem being used for other insects like beetles, worms in rice, and stuff like that. So I presumed it would be good for mosquitoes as well. I never tried it. No - this was more of a shrub type - with something of a pungent smell. We have a herb garden out here. The next time I visit it, I will get the botanical name of the plant. That way, we can always share such information. :)

actually I did same actions like yours, sir..cos using mosquito repellent lotion doesn't work good on me. using coil and electric mat works but only in one room not repel away the mosquitoes from entirely my house so we have electric mat tool in every bedroom or other rooms. it's the best we can do till today..:)

I think should try your last effort to repel the mosquitoes away from my house. but maybe it's really our problem since we live in a tropical area which has high rainfall. so the area around us is always wet and it will cause the mosquitoes has places to lay their eggs then hatch. so mosquitoes will be our problems forever maybe..LOL..

The best way to get rid of the mosquitos from house is to paint the walls with the Green color .Experts says Flies generally doesnt like to stay in those areas. Also buying a net for us is very essential to overcome its bite as i have tried all the repellents which doent work to the desired effort.

for today, using coil and electric mat to repel mosquitoes away from my house. it's not too effective actually cos mosquitoes only escape from the room but they don't die. the other rooms which don't have coil or electric mat will be attacked by mosquitoes. so it's only a kind of preventive action which is only for a while..but that's the best we can do till today..

It is also common on our place. Especially on our house because we do not screen our house. For the tips on how to keep mosquitoes away would be, always empty bottles or cans or tires because they could be a good breeding sites for mosquitoes most especially when these cans will be filled with stagnant water. Another suggestion would be to have a general cleaning. Make the canals free of garbages and water as possible. I hope these things I have shared would really help you. Have a nice day ahead..

Hang a Poster marked "MOSQUITOES GO AWAY! No mosquitoes allowed here!"...just kidding!Well, I think a temporary solution would be smoking your place, there are many ways for this, you could use mosquito coils or burn dried leaves in your backyard. Then start cleaning your surroundings, check for stagnant waters. You could also put nets on holes of your house so that mosquitoes won't be able to enter.

your idea hanging the poster was so great, bu no mosquitoes could READ..!! LOL.. I think smoking is the best way to send mosquitoes away from our house. it was my favorite and I could feel that it's so effective. but since we had a baby, we think again to use coil. we think that the smoke is not good enough for my baby respiration and could harm her lungs so we decided to change coil with electric mat. but then we find that mat is not effective enough to send the mosquitoes. actually I want to use coil again but I'm afraid of the effect to my baby. so I keep using electric mat and also keep feeling disappointed..:(

It is not easy to send mosquitoes away from our house. This is the high time of mosquitoes in my city. I had a tough time deaily with mosquitio liquifies, they didn't work well. I even tried different brands. Now, I put mosquito net to all the windows in my house. Also, we are particular about opening doors. We tried our best to kill all the mosquitoes trapped inside. Now, it is in a kid of managable situation.

I don't know why I don't like using net for windows and doors. maybe because I can't enjoy the view outside the doors or windows clearly. I ever tried this before but soon I can't stand with the effect caused by the using of the net. I'm such ridiculous, rite? or maybe I chose wrong net. but, so far we are able to manage this mosquitoes problem by the using of coil or electric mat. maybe they won't kill the mosquitoes but it's effective enough to repel them away from my room..

To avoid mosquitoes at home, you should maintain cleanliness to stop the from breeding. You could removed unused or empty containers, put away garbages and files of unused clothings, and most of all keep water running so that those insects will not have a chance to lay eggs. If there are plenty of them already, you can use insect repellants and you can apply some lotions like OFF to avoid some bites from them.

I get this a lot during the summer. Little gnats and moths are constantly flying in and annoying me What I find works for me is the cans of insect repellent you can buy from pharmacies and many other retailers. A few generous sprays of that and the insects stay well away

I think in my place mosquitoes always come no matter the season is..:( I don't prefer using insect repellent cos it doesn't send mosquitoes away, it just avoids us to be bitten by them. whereas the mosquitoes are buzzing and it's really bothering. so I prefer using insecticide or coil to using insect repellent..:) and spray, I don't know why, the smell makes my breath so hard. I don't like it either..

Hi, There are couple of things that people here generally use. One among them looks like a coil. When you burn it it drives away all the mosquitoes nearby. But it also gives out a disgusting odor. As a result it drives away more number of people than mosquitoes. Then there is a slightly modified version of the same coil. This time it gives out a good scent when it burns, though the smoke is still a trouble for most of us. So the companies have introduced, liquidators and tabs. Both of them are silent and without smoke. They claim that they don't have any hazardous effect on your lungs or eyes, and it apparently seems so. There are creams that are said to drive mosquitoes, but its still a risk to use it on your skin, as nobody is sure about its effect. But the best solution to mosquitoes is the mosquito net. Its best to use a net when you take rest. Take care

i laughed when reading your sentence "as a result it drives away more number of people than mosquitoes". it's so funny I think..LOL..I also prefer using coil to the electric one (mat). I think it could send more mosquitoes in a long time, once we burn it the mosquitoes won't be back till we wake up. but the smoke is quite bothering, so as the win win solution is after I burn the coil I place it away from my bed, so the mosquitoes are gone and I can sleep well without smoke..:)

The best way to send mosquitoes away is to find the place where they are hatching from and then clean it. Here is a good e-how on how to get rid of those pests. Good luck. http://www.ehow.com/how_16642_rid-home-mosquitoes.html

I donot think burning leaves outside the house is a wise way as plenty of carban dioxide and other greenihouse gases will be released. At my home, we have screen windows and doors to keep out mosquitoes. Sometinmes, we also burn coils if any mosquitoes fly in when we have not close doors or windows timely. besides, i have just heard the odor of tomato plants can repel away these anoying insects. You can have a try.

I never did it either..I never know before that burning leaves could decrease the population of the mosquitoes. people here like to burn their garbage both the organic and non-organic garbage. but I never think that it's used to repel away the mosquitoes. sometimes the government does fogging. they use a hard ware which produces very thick smoke. but it's not a merely smoke, but the smoke contains a kind of insecticide, it smells very bad and the smoke won't be disappeared for a long time. I hate when government starts doing this fogging. and the result is not good enough in repelling the mosquitoes..

I prefer using the electric mat or coil to racket or repellent. they're more effective and could send the mosquitoes away for hours. we'll be free from their bite and also their buzz which is very bothering..:(

in my place, product from Bayer which is the most famous, the name of the product is Autan. but i don't prefer to use it cos I also dislike with the sound of mosquitoes. if I only use the lotion the mosquitoes are still around me and they are buzzing. it doesn't comfort me. so I usually use the insecticide, the electric one. it works to send mosquitoes away for two or three hours. it's not bad but not too effective.

do you think so? yeah, maybe you're right. there are only few people in my house but our house is so big. in the morning all of us should go to work so we left house with closed door and windows. I never think before that it will cause many mosquitoes come to my house. thanks for reminding. about the house, i think there's so much we can do cos we don't have any choices. it is impossible to leave house with open doors and windows, rite?
