So I recently heard about this scandal in this one pennsylvania school. Apparently the school gave each student free laptops that they could use in class and take home. What the students didnt know is that the school was turning on their webcams while they were at home and spying on them! The school could enable any webcam without the students knowing and look at what the student were doing at any time! I can't even believe this! I think this is flat out wrong, illegal, and I won't be surprised if someone gets arrested for this. In fact someone should, tats an invasion of privacy, and horrible!

oh gosh. that's insane. I can't imagine what type of technology they've used. So it is possible that someone can see you without your knowledge. That's crazy!

I read an article about this some months ago. According to that article the school didn't intend to spy on the students, and they just wanted to find some missing laptops and that is why they turned on the webcams. It sounds like a bad excuse to me. When they turned on the webcams they must have known that that were invading the students' privacy, and it is a scary thought. I know that they are some schools in the Denmark where the students receive a laptop while they are studying, and if I ever choose to go to one of those schools I will keep this story in mind and make sure to protect my privacy.

Yeahh...if I ever get a free laptop from a school in the future, and it has a webcam, I will for sure tape a piece of paper over the webcam just to be sure. n yeaa... tat STILL doesn't give them any right to infringe on their privacy and rights. I never heard the ending of this story, do you know if anyone got arrested for it?

First there's this... "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized" ~U.S. constitution, amendment 4. I am pretty sure this violated a number of state and federal laws as well and I sincerely hope someone goes to prison over this.

OMG I didn't hear about this. That is so against the law. I can't not believe what people will do to get into peoples business. This is an invasion of privacy and there are alot of laws that have been broken. I wonder who's bright idea this was or is it just an individual who hacked into the system to be able to be a peeping tom. I wonder how the students found out about this?

yeaa..i haven't heard about the conclusion of this story. But whoever decided to spy on them is soo stupid because they should've known this was illegal. If this happened to me, I think I would be tempted to sue the school. :/

Wow, that is just insane! They're supposed to be a school, a place to educate people and a place to learn. What they are doing is a violation of everyone's privacy and that itself is a big issue. The should must be punished by such irresponsible act, I still wonder why they're still called school.
