one film i have seen that stands out is this; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1320253/ look at the cast, jet li, steve austin, rocky, arnie exc. lots of really big names, only thing is they are getting old now, would of been alot better if it was filmed 10years ago. the fight scenes are meant to be really realistic, so much infact that rocky actually broke his neck during a fight scene with steve austin though thankfully it was only minor, and hes ok now.

It's not just you. I download like 10 movies at the time and if i'm lucky 2 of them are even worth watching. I can't understand why some people spend money and time to make movies that are really not worth watching. I did watch some movies that were just ok but the last one that was above average was taken and I watched it like 6 moths ago.

Most modern mainstream movies are rubbish or rehashes and you just need to look at the proposed movies for the next couple of years to see even more rehashes and remakes taking centre stage. Crikey there are even plans for a second “Zoolander” movie! The trouble is that the majority of movie goers don’t seem to mind unoriginal movies, which trade on special effects or star names rather than something of substance like a well thought out storyline. So movie making being a business means that Hollywood continue to push out these unoriginal movies, remakes and reboots because they make money. They daren’t take risks and do something truly good or original in case it bombs and makes a loss. Which means to watch something good you have to search out those indie movies which don’t get the huge marketing.

i don't like remakes either, i try and see the original. i think you just have to look a bit harder for the good stuff. i avoid big names and big budget films as they're usually ****.

I do agree with you to an extent. I believe that eventually, as time goes on, original storylines will be more difficult to come by, and movies will start to feel the same. However, as for movies without substance, that's Hollywood for you. They churn out movies they know will rake in the most cash, not what will be deep and meaningful. Two films have impressed me lately, one I have seen is Sherlock Holmes. It isn't necessarily a re-make as it is a re-boot of a very popular but dormant series. Another is Youth in Revolt, which I have not seen. Michael Cera annoys the hell out of me, but the concept does seem exciting and refreshing And the film with Stone Cold Steve Austin, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham that has been mentioned in this discussion is called The Expendables. It has practically every big name in the action movie genre from the past 20 years, and although it will be a big, dumb action-fest with no deep meaning or substance beyond carnage and explosions, I for one cannot wait

Goto a movie site which catalogs movies from the past with their release dates and find a time period that "crappy" movies didn't outnumber well done films. It doesn't exist. I think your mind may romanticize the older movies into being a great long line of amazing titles, but there has always been a ton of trash for every treasure you find churning out of production companies. I guess alot of this could also depend on your definition of what makes a good film? If you think having the words Segal or VanDamme attached to a film is cinema at its best, then we just view movies in a different light. To each their own.

Yea, I don't see many great great great movies much anymore, I hope somebody stands and puts an end to this. I now rely on classic movies.
