Lazy person trying to lose weight

I admit it, I'm lazy. I rather not go outside and run/jog around my neighborhood. I like sitting in front of the television or behind my computer. I entertain myself by reading a good book. However, ever since I had to move back into my mom's house I have gain so much weight. I no longer have to walk to and from the bus stop every day. I no longer minimalize my meals because of a budget. Because of this and other reasons, I can't fit into more than half of my old clothes. It's my own fault. Recently I just came back from a doctor's appointment where my doctor informed me I have gained weight- like I couldn't tell from my jeans. But that became the last straw. I have decided to weigh myself every morning- a constant reminder why I need to get off my lazy butt- and excercise everyday. This past week, I have done some sort of excerise everyday where my heartrate was up for at least 20 minutes. I know its not much, but its a start. I'm also eating less. I'm hoping that I can keep this up for more than a month. Hopefully this will be the beginning of more changes and a new lifestyle. Cross fingers.

Hi, vjenkins86. You are doing just fine! Continue to take one step at a time. You are on your way!! It is good to see you making small efforts. This is great and it is a big start. It takes great courage to commit yourself to a goal. Weigh to go! I hope that you will lose all of the weight that you would like to.

I got a lot lazier ever since I moved into my older brother's house too. I got out of active duty service in the U.S army nearly 2 1/2 months ago, and since then, I merely exercised. I can hardly get any kind of motivation just sitting around the house. Since I am in the National Guard (in Georgia), I go to one of those weekend drills and I have another annual training coming up this June. Other than that, there are no other things that will make me move around at least a little. That's why I'm waiting for my acceptance letter from a four year college, so I can at least move out of my brother's house (for my family's and my sake) and start a brand new life in the dorm rooms. Sounds great, don't it? So I can go to classes on my bike, which will help me a lot! Don't you think? I have to say, I was really big and chubby and fat before I enlisted in the military, and I could barely do 10 push-ups, not to mention not even 10 sit-ups. Sounds pretty pathetic, right? But, I had to go through all those b.s for 9 weeks, and it really was worth tons. If I had not gained any muscles during basic training, I might have lost at least 40 lbs, but you know muscles weigh quite a lot, so I only lost 20 lbs :( but it's really worth it. I know that joining the military doesn't favor anyone in the planet, and I'm not trying to recommend you to do so, because you got your own rights whether you want to join the military or not, but I just wanted to share one of my stories. But ever since I got out of my active duty service in the military, I started to get lazy.. again :( Honestly it's really great being in the military. You just get yelled at and get smoked (meaning you are forced to do one of those military exercises for some period of time, perhaps it can last up to 2~3 hours, according to my experience) once you finish your required training and get to your unit, it will be like.. heaven lol. sorry, I kind got carried away a little there, didn't I? But anyway! don't lose hope, and it's a great start! I'm sure it'd be really hard trying to motivate yourself just staying around the house, but one of my recommendation to walk for a long distance is to... walk to one of those places just to hang around (best buy, game stop, bookstores, some other kinds of stores that fit your interest, etc etc) that's what I did, walk & run back and forth from my house to computer store when I started to build my own computers (and fix them, replace parts) it really helps. Sorry if it kinda annoyed you in some ways, just wanted to share one of my stories. Best of luck :)

Congratulations on your weight loss in the military. I heard that they really whip you into shape. It was good to hear your story. I hope you get your acceptance letter. Thank you :)

If you have a wii you could play games on it that make you move around atleast for 30 minutes a day... You could also walk more, even if it's just around the house. Cleaning a bit can also make you sweat, especially if your spring cleaning. To some it's fun to clean, for me, well it all depends! lol! Good Luck on your goals!

I have that temptation too of sitting around on my computer and in front of the television and it's hard to exercise at times. However, I purchased three exercise machines from the shopping channel best direct and it's the best decision I made! I exercise daily on these machines and they make me feel so good. I think it's far too expensive to go to my local gym so I definitely favour the home workout option. I also love cycling and this keeps me really happy inside and gives me a tremendous amount of freedom. I wish you all the best of luck in your own situation. Andrew

it can be done you just have to find a way to motivate yourself i was probably a little like you i had put on some weight had ballooned up to about 230 pounds and i just had to motivate myself to lose it. we had gotten one of these wii fitness systems which was my lady's idea, but i would use it too and before you knew it over time i had lost about 30 pounds so if you can find something that is easy to stick to you will be able to lose it and with the system she got it was actually fun too i never thought i could lose weight playing a video game, but it certainly helped not sure if that was all of it, but it definitely helped. so good luck with trying to lose weight i know going for a walk can be a good way too and taking along some music can be a fun way to go too.

Best of luck - I'm right there with you. I feel completely demotivated to exercise. In fact I hate everything about exercising. The worst part is that I find myself craving food, not out of hunger, but out of just wanting food. I've hung up a pair of jeans that don't fit anymore on my door as a reminder that I need to get the weight off. My motivation is staring me in the face when I wake up in the morning and go to bed at night.

Hey goodluck and yes, at least you have started. Lessen the carbo intake and try to move around as much. Soon enough, you'll see results. If you love watching TV, why not get one of those exercise videos? I tried this already and it really worked. I was in the privacy of my own home.

Wishing you the best of luck and hope you suceed. I was in a situation similar to you a few months back. I added a at home program from beach bodies called insanity and has helped me a lot. So you could always purchase something like that. I have worked with a few of there programs all work great. They will push you but you don't have to leave the house. P-90x, Insanity and Cha Lean all work! With every hope of weight loss you need to change your diet, and take in a lot of water. I drink myself at least 14 to 16 cups of water a day. Not including if I drink juice or something else. Good Luck again!

i'm pretty similar. i have no motivation for anything and the only thing that will slow down my eating is having to get up off the sofa to get some food. i hate exercise. it makes me feel dizzy and sick. as for jeans not fitting... don't think i could even buy any jeans that would fit now.

Get yourself a cheap exercise bike and park it in front of the tv, and just pedal away, before you know it you will lose track of time, and each week increase how far you can go.

I wish you luck too. I'm like you. I live on the computer. But in the morning I do a set of push ups and a set of sit ups. And sometimes I walk miles like I'm going to do today (it's 42 degrees outside!) when I walk to the post office and make some other errands. I'm supposed to do my exercises and lift weights in the evening also but that's when I get lazy after I eat so I don't do anything.

i can relate to you, aside from being lazy to walk around, i am also riding a tricycle and have no exercise at all. But a few months ago, i have gained so much weight and have no choice to workout and keep my body as healthy as possible. i try to discipline myself for my own good.

Select an exercise pattern to suit your life style. All of us have different life styles and professions so there is no sense in trying to follow the book strictly. Try and follow an exercise routine that is suitable for you. You have to understand that even more important than the exercise it is sticking to it. So unless you choose something that can suit your life style, you are not going to stick on to it.

you will continue to gain weight if you don't get out and do some exercise, why not invest in a WII fitness console, that way you can plug it in and jump about the house, or how about getting a bike? i gained some weight last year, i got lazy and i was so miserable, the longer you sit around doing nothing eating food you will gain more weight, do something about it before your health is affected, bike rides are fun, you can lose weight by cycling for 80 minutes per day, that is the equivilance of a full work out at the gym, plus, it's free, just go out, pedal the bike, come back, drink water, eat less fatty foods, the weight will come off, it worked for me
