Have you already experienced this? In our place, we are experiencing this from time to time, we called it "black out or brown out". Moment like this is really boring and what you can do is limited. The thing that make it worse is, when there is no electricity, the water will also stop. Specially during summer, it's really uncomfortable having no electricity. Well, good for those who have UPS or Uninterruptible Power Supply. How about you, have you already experienced this? How was it?

That didn't happen from a long time to me. But it does happen often the electricity to stop for seconds, sometimes several times per day. That just drives me mad and worry if my devices aren't damaged.

We are in the same country and it has been 5 consecutive days that we are experiencing the same thing. It last only for an hour but an hour for me is very precious. Its a waste of time for me if I am just sitting in one corner doing nothing. It is really annoying and how I wish there's something that we cant do about it but they actually said that they do it because they need to conserve energy. How true is that? What did they say about all these black out?

Hi! Oh yes, it happened for almost everyday now. It's really annoying if you are rushing something then suddenly the power will be interrupted. Well, I hope they will not cut the power for many consecutive hours. I really don't know what exactly was their purpose on doing this. Let's just hope that it will go back to normal soon. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!

You know in order to have a UPS you have to buy it for a hundred thousand pesos or more. Who have it, only rich people. Yes it is really uncomfortable if there is no electricity and the weather is so hot. We really don't know what will we do to ease the boredom and the heat. In our place when the electricity have been interrupted we still have water, actually we store water for emergency purposes. For me it is more applicable if the electricity will be interrruted in the afternoon, rather than evening, where everyone is sleeping.

Yes, that is why only few can afford it. It is really uncomfortable coz it makes the summer weather hotter during brownouts. We also have stocks of water to be used during brownouts, it is wise to have. Well, power interruption can really give uncomfortability in our lives. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!

I really hate brown outs, we also suffer power outage here in our place, it is an everyday routine which could last up to 6 hours. It happened to me a lot of times, while I am doing my work in my computer and then suddenly the lights went out, it is so irritating.

Yes, it's really so uncomfortable. It's so hot and you can't do most of those things that you used to do. Yes, one to three hours without electricity is still bearable, but no electricity for the whole day and more is like hell. Haha! Yes, let's hope that it won't happen specially during summer season. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!

yes absence of electricity creates problem in day to day routine during that time. Darkness around, use of electric appliances not possible, creating lot of uncomfort. However, we have generator set in our colony and whenever the electricity goes, the generator set is started and we get power from generator, within 5 minutes. So we experience blackout at the most for 5 min.

Good for you that you have generator in your colony. You will not experience the uncomfortable situation of having no electricity. I think 5 minutes is still quick and not enough for you to feel uncomfortable. Hehe. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!

We went without electricity for four days a few years ago after a hurricane passed by. Fortunately, it was late October (I'm in Florida) so it wasn't too hot but, yes, it was pretty boring. The portable radio was our best friend during that time. Every once in a while we have a black out during a storm but they never last long. Fortunately for us, we live down the street from our town's judge and are on the same electrical grid as he is so we're first in line for restoration of service.

Hi! Oh, 4 days is really long. It's really uncomfortable living without electricity specially that we used to live with it. It's good that you have had your portable radio with you, as it was really very useful during that kind of situation, needing to hear news and updates. Yes, you are really fortunate for living near your town's judge as you are also one of those who will get electricity back first. Thank you for your response. Happy myLotting!

Yup, good thing I was in the office when it happened and we have a generator so it didn't really bother me, other than I wasn't able to save what I was doing and I had to do it again, cause the recovered document did not include my last revisions on it... Hehehehe. Anyway, it's really irritating during black outs cause you don't really have anything to do, and as you said, no electricity also means no water for us.

Hi Mark, Yesterday we had power interruption in our office for more than 1 hour. Since we are not allowed to open windows we had to endure fans which are very limited. Good thing I can still work since my laptop had full battery. When power was restored everyone in the the office was bathing with sweat, it was very uncomfortable indeed. Then when I got home at about 6pm, again there was another brownout, this time for 3 hours. I heard from a neighbor that this is going to be a regular thing for the rest of the summer season, there will be "rotation" brownout. Oh, no, it's summer and it's going to be a very, very hot summer (literally of course).

There have been a couple of times that we've been without electricity for an extended period of time due to the weather. It is typically ice storms for us that will knock out the power and it really is miserable. We still, thankfully, have water, but the house will get cold and there are only so many things that you can find to do to occupy your time. We built a fire in the woodburning stove and got a power invertor so that we could light one lamp and the television. That helped us out a lot.

This is kind of situation I do not even like thinking of!Its terrible when there's any of kind of power failure. All sort of electronic good in the place start to look like useless and we feel like getting our head to burst when the hot environment has a high deal on us.A room without a fan,an ac or even without a window could be killing if the power goes off. Most of us do not feel the importance when there is electricity being used of or its being supplied without any interruption but when one gets to know the absence that when it seems so special. The modern world is filled with electronics and it all needs power. My computer can't last longer than 10-15 minutes without electricity and i wouldn't want that to happen at every interval of the day.Its kind of sad that in your area its a regular thing, haven't the officials or people questioned. In our area it used to be a problem earlier but nowadays its getting solved.Spending money on Inverters can be handy yet they are really a waste at times when there is power available,I guess!

I think you have to do something else like solving a rubix cube, text a friend, cook etc while waiting for the electricity or generator.

I have been in my apartment for about 4 months and we have had several power outages. Sometimes they will cut off for several minutes and come back on or maybe just the tv and the computer will go off. It's very upsetting, especially since I am home alone every day. In the past few weeks the power has gone off for about 6 hours, and it was so cold and dark. I had to bundle up on the couch. This happened twice in the past couple of weeks. I really don't know what the problem is but if it continues we probably won't stay here.

This weekend we had heavy winds that caused the electricity to cut out several times for a few hours at a time. I went out for a drive since most shopping centres have generators so even if the electricity cut out they have things to do. The thing is if it is for a long period of time, and unexpectedly, then it seems worse. If there is a warning that there will be cuts for some reason, like repairs, it is easier to organize things to keep busy. The advantage of portables is that they still work, so computer will work for a little while and then there are the traditional pleasures like reading during the day, listening to music, doing things with friends and family - a while back during a power outage due to a storm we played card and board games till late it was fun.

Oh I hate black outs and brown outs!!!! Just today, we experience two brown outs and one black out. Among the two, I hate black out more. I hate it when I am about to sleep and then suddenly the electricity will be turned off or I would woke up from deep sleep due to that. Yes, limited work... cannot use computer, can't watch my favorite shows... VERY HOT! Very irritating especially if I am in the middle of my work then suddenly, the power will be interrupted! That sucks!!!! Just imagine you are working on the computer then suddenly the power was off then you are unable to save your work (especially if you are not using word docs) Oh my, you need to redo all of it again!!!!

I've had it happen. Its kind of common where I live. The power company has been out nermous times to strenghen the lines, but regardless of what they do our area is real week. Power outages really suck. Flickering isn't so bad, but when it stays out that's the worst. We don't lose our water, but not being able to heat or cool the space is the pits.

Last year because of the post office, I never got my electric bill, so my electricity was shut off. It took two days to get it back on. Since I don't have a car, I had to walk everywhere and get things done. I got some coolers, toted ice, and put all my frozen stuff in the ice filled coolers. I was angry. But I'm usually ready in other ways. I have candles, lots of batteries, and miniature lights and didn't have to worry about being in the dark. Since only my electricity was shut off, I used the laundry plug to get on the Internet. But I do miss having a broadband card so I could still be on the computer. And I need another battery for this laptop, then I'd be set. For the summer I have miniature battery powered fans. We don't have problems with water though.

We have this so called rotating brown outs. The electicity company do this in order to avoid power shortage, and I hate it especially when I'm playing computer games and watching TV because I miss the climax of the episode or parties in an online game. What I do is text my friends, go outside and play some sports or buy food and eat till the electricity comes back. =)
