Well I posted earlier about congress wasting their time on a crime (possible genocide) that happened in 1915. Almost a hundred years ago. Well they ruled it a genocide. So now Turkey is all pissed at us over it and they have recalled their embassador. We were on good terms with Turkey..until this. Turkey is worried about how this will effect 2030 Benchmark Gold Bond. Armenia on the other hand is very happy about this...after all it was their people who were kill. But a lot are worried if this will break the delicate peace deal that Turkey and Armenia brokered last year. Starting them fighting all over again. Wow congress really stepped into this time. NOt only have they ticked off Turkey..a friend over a 100 year old event...but they have also possibly messed up a peace deal between the two countries. Needless to say Obama is NOT happy. As I said before...don't they have more important things to worry about? Like the issues we have in this country? Or are things so messed up here that their new stragy is to screw up the rest of world even worse so we don't look so bad? Tell me your thoughts...can these guys do anything right.

Probably not. I'm not sure what the details are regarding the situation, but this isn't something we should have stuck our nose in, and the reason for it is the exact consequence you just described. We have our own problems to deal with, and the last thing we need to do is put ourselves in the position where our frivolous decision making leads us to have to tip-toe a line between two former enemies. We are NOT the referee for the rest of the world's issues.

You are right. We have more important issues to worry about. We should have left this one alone. They have caused more problems with this than they solved. Looks like Obama and Clinton will be busy trying to smooth is one over for while.

things so messed up here that their new stragy is to screw up the rest of world even worse so we don't look so bad? I think you hit the nail on the head. Do you think maybe this is what other countries mean when they speak of American arrogance?

LOL...could be. LOL. I can tell you one thing...they have sure created one big headache for Obama and Clinton...the two of them have to bashing their heads into a wall right now over it. They are the ones who are going to have to try and smooth this over.

Yea those Armenian are finally vindicated. This is so stupid. I can safely bet that none of the members of the current Turkish government had any rule in this genocide. Heck Turkey was not even called Turkey back then it was the Ottoman Empire. If anything blame the Ottoman Empire for what happen to the Armenians. What would we think if China condemned the United States government for the genocide of Native American or the enslavement of Africans?

Exactly...none of the people responsible are still alive. They should have just left it alone. They better hope when the london market opens that Turkey does not take a hit...then it will knock this whole thing up a few more notches and cause all kinds of issues...or that it causes the tensions between Turkey and Armenia to start back up. Then our congress will be responsible for causing all kinds of trouble.

I honestly can't imagine what they're up to. Well, my imagination can only take me to dark and devious places and it sounds too surreal. Turkey is a valuable ally. A very Westernized and stable islamic nation, it provides something that we seriously need - a go-between in the Middle East. Turkey can go places and make deals that we could never approach. Ticking off Turkey could just be the result of some righteous-thinking congressmen who feel the need to count up the wrongs in the world and wag a finger. But it will have such ramifications for our future dealings with not only Turkey, but all of the Middle East that I can't imagine that even these congressmen are that naively stupid. If they are, or if they aren't - they need to go.

The answer to your last question,"can these guys do anything right?" Unfortunately, it looks like the answer is "no". All we can hope at this time is that the confusion in Congress gets worse, so nothing gets out of committee, nothing gets voted on, nothing gets passed, so we don't get any more of this Congress' help -- here or abroad. I don't even want this Congress declaring March 6, help your mother-in-law day. Nothing from this Congress!
