Ellen has really surprised me as a judge!

I really love Ellen. I was so happy when she announced that she would be the next judge, cause I have been watching her shows, and i know that she is really a fan, and her comments are really great, and truthful. So when she started as a judge, I was so happy, that she had proven herself. You're right, I thought she would be more of Paula, where she doesn't really see the bad at all, but ellen just says it as it is, without really being hurtful.

Ditto to that. I really think she's a good judge too. Her comments are really constructed well and she shows that she knows what she's saying. Her encouragement are also awesome and I can see the look of confidence on the contestants faces when she gives them morale support. It's cool if she continues with this idol journey, besides her being a host on her own Ellen show.

Ellen is sometimes off key about the musical taste when she commented the , but she is always on point in terms of performance, like how the contestant must used space to connect with the audience, on how to overcome anxiety when singing, and giving she's been only there for few weeks, she's giving a real input than what Randy in gazillion years.

I have no doubts about ellen as a judge of the american idol...because she is such an excellent host of her show and being a judge might be just a pice of cake for her. What I love about her style is her way of making the contestants feel comfortable with her. She is definitely not as shallow as paula abdul was but she'l quite smart and i appreciate her inputs in the show. What i noticed with her is she gives a negative criticism but she also puts a positive comment all the time which makes the contestant feel good about themselves. Ellen is a natural people person...i love that about her. I guess the American Idol show needed somebody like her. Nice topic you startedhere Tallygirl...happy mylotting.

Like you at first I thought she would not be a good judge and pretty much a joke! Even though she does give American Idol a funny and happy atmosphere (which was needed!) she can be serious when she needs to be! Her comments are thoughtful and are actually helpful comments that are productive! She has really surprised me!
