Sarah Says God Wrote On HIS Palms Too!!

On the Tonight Show last week Sarah Palin told Jay Leno she got the idea of writing on the palm of her hand from her dad; now it turns out GOD DID IT TOO! "If what was good enough for God, scribbling on the palm of his hand, it's good enough for me, for us," Palin said. "In that passage he says, I wrote your name on the palm of my hand to remember you. And I'm like okay, I'm in good company." A supporter sent her the passage from Isaiah 49:16: "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me." Can anyone here even imagine the outcry if President Obama or any other Democrat were to compare him or herself to God...lol? : http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/03/sarah-palin-god-wrote-on-his-h.html?wprss=44 Annie

I don't see her comparing herself to God. But saying if he did something that it is ok for her to do it too. A lot of people try to follow the actions of their chosen "God" in their religion. But I find this one funny. I mean come on...I have written on my hand before...especially if it was something important I did not want to forget. But not because God did it...but because I tend to forget things.LOL

I have too. You don't really think Sarah would admit she can be fallible and forget something without claiming the same thing happens to God, do you...lol? Annie

To be fair, she made the comment only because someone sent her a scripture in support and she never claimed she wrote on her hand because God did, nor did she say God forgets things sometimes. The palm thing happened a while ago now, and she's explained why she did it, used self-deprecating humor, made fun of herself over it and yet it's still fodder for newspapers? Shouldn't they be covering something important once in a while?

The Washington Post is a large newspaper, Rollo. I'm sure they covered lots of important stuff, too.

I wondered how long it would take for an Annie on Palin's Leno appearance post. I was honestly waiting to read it.

I'm really jealous Mr. Fish. Everyone is ALWAYS waiting for Annie when I posted a wonderful discussion about Palin's attempt at standup comedy days ago! I guess I'll never be able to fill your shoes, Annie.

First, this is Jay Leno. Are you taking a comedy show seriously? This really seems like I have nothing controversial to say about Palin, so I am dredging something ridiculous up. No wonder the political world has gone crazy.

Wanted to add, don't like her politics that's fine. Disagree with her stance on key issues that is your right. She is not in any political office. She is just voicing her opinion like everyone else here. Just wondering why she is still under obvious attack. Frankly, it is getting old and starting to get look a little desperate.

Actually, this latest claim was made at a pro-life rally in Ohio. I'm sorry you don't approve of my choice of discussion but if you think it's "getting old" nobody forced you to respond or even read it for that matter. I find some posts that are more on the light side to be a nice break from the nasty, doom and gloom and name-calling. If Sarah didn't keep saying and doing silly and stupid things, nobody would have anything to say about her, would they? Annie

Yet, your statement reads like it is such a political crisis that she made a joke on a comedy show. Perhaps, President Obama should write on his hand too. It might keep him from making a political misstep when the teleprompter fails.

Well, that would make sense if she had written the names of some folks on the palm of her hand like God did...like the family that she loves. But, nowhere in the Bible does it say that God wrote crib notes on the palm of his hand so he could glance at them when his memory failed him. Here's a quote from the Bible that Palin should have taken to heart during the campaign: "A fool think he needs no advice, but a wise man listens to others." [Proverbs 12:15]

You know how some of these Bible-thumpers are - they cherry-pick which parts of the Bible to follow. No doubt Sarah thinks she's the wise one who doesn't need any advice from others...lol! Annie

The whole uproar isn't because Palin uses a teleprompter, writes notes on her palm, or whatever. It's because she talks smack about the president using a teleprompter when EVERYONE in the public eye uses one. These days a public speaker's people give the text of a speech to the press, and the press writes their whole article before the speech is ever given. That way, a huge article can be posted on cnn.com or wherever the second the person leaves the podium. Then again, Palin is an expert at making statements designed specifically to beat up on liberals. I doubt even SHE believed "end of life counseling" meant the doctor was telling grandma to go kill herself, but boy she got a lot of traction out of that one.

You've got a great point, jmow. President Obama is too easygoing in some ways but it seems that lately he's gotten some of the "fire" back. I can't speak for those who have responded in the various polls regarding health care but I can say that many of the people I know and with whom I have discussed it who have been opposed to the health care plans that have been proposed or have been dissatisfied with Obama's handling of it have said it's because he hasn't been forceful enough in pushing back against all these lies. Obama as the Messiah - ...and he believes it to be true!
Annie I do not see any difference between a supporter sending her that Bible quotation and Obama's supporters worshipping him as the Messiah. What is worse is Obama seems to believe them!

and???? I did not say the spoken word "Messiah" but the image can be seen in various Messiahlike forms or do the left just close their eyes!!.

No one on the Left ever called Barack Obama the Messiah. OTOH, if you go to Free Republic.com, that's one of their nicknames for him.

Is it following his example when she did it before she knew he did it too? It sounded to me more like her saying "Hey, I'm in good company!" which is pretty close to comparing herself to God. Annie

Well, I write on my hand too but it doesn't mean I think I'm God or anything. If it works for her, then more power to her. Personally, I like her...I also think she has guts to keep voicing her opinions when so many ppl hate her for what seems like petty reasons. BTW, 0bama has been compared to God more than once...especially during his campaign and early presidential days. Of course, now that his popularity is falling less and less ppl are seeing him that way...but I'd take Sarah Palin over 0bama any day of the week. You'd take Sarah over Obama any day of the week but where would you take her? Far, far away, I hope...lol...(don't get mad, I couldn't resist!) About the President, I've never heard of him comparing himself to God. If others choose to say such silly things, I guess all the power to them, right? I don't know that "so many" people actually HATE Sarah but I do know most feel she's not qualified to be President and I wouldn't say that's for "petty" reasons. My personal opinion is that she likes saying things that she knows the media will "pick on her" for so she can complain about how the media picks on her. I think she's one who is of the belief that no publicity is bad publicity! Annie

I've been holding back and hiding in the shadows, but this one I have to make a comment on... In Isaiah 49:16... GOD says I have engraved you on the palms of my hands... Doesn't that Id10t know that if she engraved notes on her had, the blood would be dripping from her palms??? She belongs in the class of "dumb and dumber" Period.

That wouldn't be comparing oneself to God, it would be emulating God - which Christians strive to do in many ways, including showing love, faithfulness and compassion. Emulating God and His attributes is highly encouraged. In fact, it was Jesus who said to His disciples "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." That's different than comparing yourself to God, or saying you are God. Newsweek editor Evan Thomas said of Obama "He's sort of God". I am trying to remember the discussion you posted about that being outrageous, but I can't exactly. Hmmm...

She said she was "in good company", isn't that a bit of a comparison? I don't think it would be called emulating God since she wasn't aware that God did it too until a supporter let her know, as I understand it. I've never known of President Obama comparing himself to God or the Messiah or any of the other things said about him here. It's not his fault what someone else writes about him, is it? Oops, how silly of me, I forgot - of course it is...lol! Annie

There are some extremest who would get up in arms if Obama or any other Democrat made that comparison, but I think most people never gave it a second thought. I also believe she was being facetious.

She wasn't comparing herself to God. She was just sayign that she was doing something that isn't always acceptable. But since God does it, it must be okay! And democrats don't try to compare themselves to God... they play God instead!

Thanks for clearing that up because it's not always so easy to tell what she's saying...lol! I must respectfully disagree about the Democrats playing God. If that were true then God never would have told Bush he should be President. Annie

I don't believe that Palin was truly comparing herself to God by quoting a verse sent to her by a supporter. O is always thinking of himself as above God, as do all his stupid followers. I do not think the situations are analagous. Palin should stop thinking she has to justify herself every time someone takes a pot shot at her to continue in the O camp tradition of denigrating her in any way possible. That being said, she shouldn't do stupid things like write on her hand; if she needs notes (not a lifetime teleprompter), she should use a piece of paper. Writing on onesself is not healthy, as dyes and inks are absorbed through the skin and who knows the chemical effects.

Both could be true, justification and presentation. I hope she doesn't become a news hog, though. I hope she uses whatever opportunity she is given to provide a good message and tend toward good government based on solid values, as she has in the past - no compromise.

Obama already does and has worshippers who vowed to serve him, sing his praises, teach children to follow him and so on. He continually spits on the faces of the American people and that includes YOU. Where's the outcry for this crap?
