How much wiggle room do you need?

A question about survival. What’s constantly on your mind lately? Or what’s holding you back from breathing a sigh of relief? Is it an extra day for a homework deadline? Or an extra day for the paycheck to come before a bill cut-off? To my hockey friends, is it a puck-moving-defenceman? No surprise for me, it’s money. My wiggle room is a month’s worth of mortgage, plus credit card payments. Just a month without it, I will not only wiggle, I’ll dance!

Money always factors in but right now the main thing on my mind is work. I'm a manager with a fast food restaurant and we have a food safety audit coming at any time. There are so many little things that could cause us to fail and I've been running myself silly checking, double checking and triple checking things. Trust me, I understand how very important food safety is but one little thing that someone does or does not do that gets by me could be huge trouble. And this year they have it to where if a store fails the manager in charge is fired, no ifs ands or buts about it. I am freaked out with worry. I really believe I'll pass it if they come on my shift but you never know. I'll be able to breath again once it's over. I'm really too the point I just want them to come on and get it over with, even if it's on my shift. I've been the one that got it for the last two years and always passed but I think it's time they came on someone else! Just wish me luck!

Thanks so much bounce! I'm pretty confident I'll pass but I don't want to be too confident. i think that can get you in trouble. They didn't come today but I was ready for them. Still checking things like three times each, lol. Where do you do audits at. Wouldn't it be funny if you were the one to do mine!

That would be funny! But rest assured, I don't do restaurants. I just do manufacturing companies.

Hi kittenclaus. I wish you luck. But since you said that you've done this a couple of times before, I am confident that you'd pass it this time with no issues. I do audits too, and I know what those reps go through on audit days. If I get someone who keep their wits about them, I usually find no biggies. Still I know what you mean, in having it over and done with. Goodluck!

For me, I don't care if they are yummy or not. I just want them to get the job done! Well, the job of getting their names on Lord Stanley's cup. End of the long road trip for us tonight! Goodluck with caps on your end. Remember, not more than 2 losses from now on, so no pressure!

That is indeed exciting. That's where I envy you. I wish my kids would develop something I'd like. I would be content becoming their manager.

We are having a hard time with Caps tonight. I hope the 2nd and 3rd period is better than the first. Manny is scaring me. Out of the net too much. Gonna stay up and watch Vancouver play Phoenix. On another note, my boy gets his cast off tomorrow. Hopefully he will be able to try out for the USA Hockey development team in Charleston in April. If he makes the try out then he will go to a camp in Nashville for a week and then they will pick so many kids to go to an All-Star game held at Kent State in Ohio! Exciting, huh?

nice picture! I think money is a big issue with most of us. My biggest thing is more time in the day and more energy to accomplish everything in it I need to. I start at 5:30 am and run til about 9pm. Then drop. I really need about another 5 good hours per day!

I understand what you're going through, as I have pretty much the same type of day. I set my alarm at 5, but my day really start when I get up at 5:30. Then the day is spent running around, with work, and chores, and other stuff. At the end of day, I'm poofed! I too need maybe just a couple more hours, even just for myself. Thanks!

Thanks for responding cher913. I hope by now you're done, or at least almost done with those 35 baby shower invites! Or at least, that you had fun making them. Have a great day!

bounce58 well as a seniorcitizen in a retirement center that takes most all of my social security and SSI checks leaving me only 125 dollars per month for personal needs money is my problem like it is for so many others, my wiggle room would me a months payment for myinternet and my phone and med bills. 39 pus 13 plus 16 and throw in another 40 for good measure to pay my monthly bills, mylots really helping me on my internet bill but since time warner upped it 3 dollars its not quite enough so for wiggle room about another hundred dollars and I would be doing the happy dance. yipeeee.

Hi Hatley. Sometimes it boggles my mind how a lot of people don't really require too much to 'wiggle'-out, and do a happy dance. And it amazes me that we can even put a number to it. And it's not that much! Where are those Oprah and Ellen shows when you need them?! I wish that you find a lot more interesting discussions here to help you in your monthly quest to stave off the internet bill.

I guess what's holding me back lately is the anxiety/pressure/excitement for the bar exam results. It will definitely feel like Christmas everyday when I finally become a lawyer. :-)

I wish that the coming weeks bring you good news! And that you can finally get on with your life and move on to better and brighter things. I know it's hard to be in that state. I've been there before. Luckily I came out the right side. Goodluck!

Im always afraid someone close to me will get sick or that I get sick and have to go to the hospital. I wish I could put that out of my mind but I just cant. Every time I dont think about it, I hear about someone being sick or someone who received bad treatments and suffered for nothing. Im afraid of pain not of dying.

I think I see what you're saying. Your wiggle room would be a relief from this threat of pain or sickness. I hope you find your space and your peace of mind. Thanks for responding.

For me at this moment would be more money a month. I was laid off called for UI benefits and they were unable to tell me if I qualify over the phone? So dumb! I'm trying to start my Mary Kay business again if your interested www.marykay.com/Lnavarro3 But today my husband called me and said we have to go through a new medical coverage b/c the company is changing again so when he faxed me all the paperwork I seen it's going up 70/mo! Ouch! We can barely afford what we had before now its going to be more money a month with less income :( So we'll see when the end of the month comes! B/c with his income alone barely covers our mortgage and car payment. Not basic living expenses!

I guess we're all in the same boat. I wish this recession would clear up soon, so that the few of us that are having a hard time get the break we surely deserve, or we surely need. I wish you luck, and that we may all see the end of the tunnel. Thanks for responding.
