the lord of the rings books

Has anyone here read the Lord of the Rings books? They are the best books I have ever read. The first book is boring for about the first 30 pages but press through it. These books are really worth it. You will not want to put these books down. You are going to need all that background information later so it is better that you really read it now rather than having to reread it later. What are your favorite books?

I agree with you. The books were really great to read. I watched the movies before reading it, then read the movies again. So it really helped me to better understand the movie. I also read The Hobbit, which is like the prequel to the Lord of the Rings series. I love that book. It's really interesting to read about Bilbo Baggins' adventure before the Lord of the Rings!

Well, the books have certainly became world classics already. Tolkien not only made an incredible world with its own mythology, history events and all the great stories that take place there, but he also made a whole new genre in the literature that inspired thousands of writers to create their own universes. I have read the books maybe more than 6 or 7 times both in English and my mother language(Bulgarian) and every time I find something new in there.

I am an English teacher and right now I am teaching 3 books. Because of Winn-Dixie, Snow Treasure and Everlasting Tuck. Each has very interesting questions and they are hard to put down. They are not as involved as the Lord of the Ring series. I wouldn't want to teach the Lord of the Rings, because it would take all year!
