Chelios is a Thrasher?!

Chelios knew last year that the wings wouldn't be renewing his contract. At the time he was considering retirement, he has always said he didn't want to break Gordie Howes record of being the oldest guy in the NHL. When it came down to it, he just loves the game too much to quit and he did sign with the Thrasher's. No one was happier than I was the other night when they said he had been called up. I wished we could have kept him for his work ethic and experience alone. I was hoping he could go back to Chicago, he was captain there for almost 10 years and lord knows those kids could use some of his experience to keep them out of the kind of trouble they got themselves into today against Washington. He is still such a hottie, I kept him as my screensaver even after he turned in his winged wheel.

I've heard this news this past few days. I guess he was playing with an AHL team in Chicago. Which is the farm team of the Thrashers. A few days ago, the Atlanta lost a few defencemen due to injuries, and they've signed Chely back. Just the fact that he is 48 years old and back in the NHL is already something to marvel about. I think he plans to stick it out until he's 50. People say he's a freak of nature, in the way he works out!
