Do you still have time to read?

Do you consider reading an enjoyable hobby? Most of my friends find it so boring, they prefer watching movies and do something other than scanning pages of a magazine, book or any reading material. For quite long time, I have stopped my reading habit due to busy schedules. Joining mylot has rekindled my passion for reading. Now, I manage to read discussions, comments and blogs here with great pleasure and interest. Aside from that, I restarted to look over every book at home and take time reading its interesting contents. Of course, the Bible is on top of my list. How about you?

I absolutley love to read. I often catch myself reading when I should be asleep. Many times I will read until I fall asleep with the book in my hand and the lamp on. Being a college student i don't have as much time to read as i would like. Some of my favorite things to read are the bible, anything by Linda Howard, and anything Karen Kingsbury. Karen Kingsbury writes Christian Romance Novels and i absolutly love her work. I read almost anything i can get my hands on and i have read some not so good books to. We had to read a couple for history that were horrible, though the ones for farther along in the semester are much better. I'm currently reading in the heart of the sea and its actually pretty good. Though its also pretty gory and descriptive.

You & your mom are both admirable! She's the one who influenced you to start reading. Well, my mom also influenced me into writing, she also has the passion for reading which she shared to me. Thanks for your response.

Yes, I read a lot. It's not really reading, however, it's audio books. I put them in when I'm doing other things like myLot or transcribing a poem. This way I can do a few things at once.

I love to read...it has always been a huge passion for me. I still read off and on all day long. I keep several books on my desk and I tend to take breaks from the computer and read them. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Hi eloveriz, Since we are at myLot, of course we need to read. Otherwise how we gonna post a response or comment without read the discussions topics. Beside "reading" at myLot, I rarely read other reading material. I do sometimes read newspaper or new on the net, so I know whats going on around me or anywhere else. Regarding read the book, it is depend on the book ingredient or themes. If I found something interesting in that book, I can read it until I forgot the time. I like to finish reading the whole book in one sitting if I could. I do not like to stop at certain page then continue it later.

As long as your discussion still applicable to today's life then you will still receive your response as long as it can be seen by others. Reading, even though it is a boring thing to some people, is still a good topic to share our view on it.

OH yes, I love reading... I have many books with me and I read them generally while eating, and before going to sleep. when I have an OFF at work, I stay at home and read. I am a hungry reader LOL... And I read whenever I get a chance. I read all kinds of books and newspaper is must, everyday.. It is a wonderful hobby... It enriches one's knowledge and other things. It gives knowledge that can't be obtained by regular school/college syllabus. I think, everyone should read something everyday. Have fun!

Hi mr pearl! Exactly, there's really an advantage in reading. No matter how busy we are, it's recommended to read even few lines a day.

As you may have already read when I responded to my daughter's post, I love to read. Karen Kingsbury, Linda Howard, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Joyce Meyer..I'm very eclectic of what I like to read. I'm currently reading a book by Beth Moore called a Woman and her God.

Hi Eloveriz, If your friends find reading boring then they just haven't found the right reading material to capture their interest. I love reading. I always have a great book going. Currently I am reading a book about the radical changes that took place in the 60's and early 70's and the people and music that were a major part of those changes. I don't read as much as I used to. I still keep a good book going and I read while I eat my dinner or while waiting in the waiting room. It takes me so much longer to read a book now than it did years ago. I still enjoy it as much.

Me too, I strongly disagree with my friends' statement. There's so much fun and excitement in reading depending on the kind of material/book we pick.

I love reading, although I have no where near as much time to read for my own enjoyment as I did when I was a child. Now I tend to read when I'm at the gym or on the subway. Besides that, I have very little time to read for my own enjoyment. I wish I had more time.

I love reading, i loved it since I was a kid, I guess I got it from both my parents, since the whole family actually shares the love for reading. Until now I always try to read a book once a month, it might take a long time to finish a book for me nowadays, but I'm okay for me, at least I still get to read.

Yeah, it's really one thing that all of us really has in common. When I have my own children I would definitely introduce the habit of reading.
• Philippines

My mom's habit was reading too, I learned to appreciate books through her. It's so inspiring to know that your family has one common interest and all of you enjoy reading - When my little boy grows bigger, I'll introduce such habit to him also.

Ever since I was a kid my life was full of reading, and I still read allot, maybe even more because of the internet, books, articles, diverse lessons such as language, math etc. news, manga, messages etc. even when I'm going to school I read something on the way, in boring classes, in breaks, on the net, anywhere, and I sometimes listen to music while reading, the noise doesn't bother me like it bothers others, and in public transportation people are noisy, so instead of listening to them I plug in my headphones and read :) While reading the mind can imagine all kind of different things, while the videos are the same for everyone, it gives me a pleasant feeling to imagine all this things I read, and in manga you can imagine the movement although you see still images :)

Listening to music while reading? I can also do that...It's cool but others think that music or any noise distracts concentration.

Not at all, even my cousin, since he was little I always seen him listening to music while doing homework or reading, and he was the nerd with straight A if you know what I mean, hahaha, definitely not a distraction !

I also love to read book, and even if so busy with lots of roles that i play i still manage to read. The last book that i read was the passion of Christ, because of my poor schedule, instead of singing i read it instead by myself alone. Have a good day!

Well, the time to read is less, but i created time for myself to read. I read adventurous books and in internet i try to read of different countries and their tourist spots. Reading makes your mind relax and concentrate, it also improves the memory power. Also mylot has made me read different opinions and thoughts!

I really enjoying reading, but I like light reading like novel, biography, comic and some popular book but I also like reading a bible. book really have different enjoyment with movie its make your imagination grow much better than movie, because you have to imagine every word you read. Its fun especially when you read very good and enrich books.

As much as I want to say yes, I really don't have the time to read. i always find something more interesting or time-englufing and I can't find time to sit at home and read one of my favourite books. Nowadays I think that most of the people do not read. if they want to read a book they just go and buy an audio book. It is easier to listen to it rather than reading. i think reading is far more enjoyable than listening because you interpret the book in your own way by doing that. Reading I think is now considered something old-fashioned and it is just not right. We should have the time to read from time to time, maybe even every single day or once a week at least for a couple of hours.
• Philippines

Yes, that is true! Some people do not give enough time in reading but they prefer to listen through audio books. I will not buy one, I'd rather buy books and stick to the old way of reading & learning.

Hi eloveriz2004! I read too many books and I enjoy reading them. But I don't read Novels much. I enjoy autobiographies and science books. But for long time I have not also read any book due to busy schedule. I don't get much time to read them now. your Discussion has reminded of me of again going back to my books collection and start reading them.

Well, I have to =D. I currently go to college and I have to read a countless number of books everyday. Not everything is boring though, I'm a bit fond of Science books so I really find them quite a bit interesting. I also read online magazines about cars which one of my passions.

Yes, it shows. You placed the car as your profile picture. It's good to read those kinds of books you mentioned here.
