In the spring. . .

Well, spring is about to officially arrive. And, at least in our house it means that the kids are able to go outside and play. It means that we get to see more light than we've seen in a while. And, it means seasonal allergies. With the seasonal allergies there isn't a person in our house that isn't miserable. We will have runny noses, sinus related headaches and in general just not feel well. My main question that I would like to ask today is if we are the only ones that suffer miserably from seasonal allergies. If you and your family deals with seasonal allergies, what do you all do to combat them? For us this is a never ending battle and it has already started for this year.

It most definitely isn't any fun at all, but it is also something that is impossible to avoid.

They are, honestly my allergies are one of the reasons that I would love to live somewhere that has a less temperate climate.

yes you are right. so just be extra careful to avoid those allergies not get worst. i understand this is really a concern for those who live in areas where spring season is experienced.

This is the time of year when I eat Claritin and Benadryl like candy, and I still have a hard time breathing from day-to-day. My eyes are itchy. They are watery one minute, and they are dry and scratchy the next. I hate this time of year...

You and I both. My daughter can be included in this category as well because she has been so congested for the last two days that she hasn't been able to breathe.

Fortunately I am only allergic to fish(seafood) so I don't suffer from seasonal allergies.

You are fortunate that you don't deal with seasonal allergies, but I certainly couldn't imagine being allergic to seafood. I love seafood.

In my country, summer has arrived which means a lot of heat, and to me and my family, allergies galore. It is so hot that if we let sweat stay in our body, we get allergies. We itch all over. Calamine lotion does not help. It is hard to sleep at night because I have to scratch every now and then. This will clear up once the rainy season (in 2-3 months time) comes.

We still have a few months to wait until it is our summer time. Once that time comes, I know that we will be even more miserable because of the mosquitos and the extremely hot temperatures. However, I will enjoy that season as well.

When I was little I used to have difficulties with the change of seasons. Now if the weather changes drastically I get the sneezes and I can not always breathe. What I need to do is keep the windows opened for a few hours then I am fine. I love spring because I can start planting my fruits and vegatables. I can also plant my rose bushes. Now that I own a home I can plant to my hearts content.

I don't think that I am ever going to outgrow the difficulties with the change of the seasons. That really is okay though because I know that aside from having the allergy eyes and the runny nose I enjoy the changes that we go through during the year.

The seasonal allergies are more for me now than they used to be because of the fact that we have more foliage in our yard than we did at the old house. So, I can definitely sympathize with what your daughter is going through.

dorannmwin yes here too, its almost eighty out and in March, but this is Southern Calfornia. Every night I have to take Benadryl to be able to sleep as my nose stuffs up and I literally cannot breathe very well. i am allergic to dust and dust mites. ugh. It also bothers me at times in the day time but not outside, its an inside allergy. not any fun thats for sure.

I believe it would be worse to have to deal with indoor allergies than outdoor allergies, but I also know that both of them have the ability to literally make a person miserable.

Oh I love spring season, unfortunately in the Philippine we have only two seasons: wet and dry or rainy season and summer season. But spring time is such a wonderful period because you can see blossoming flowers everywhere, tress started having wonderful leaves. The environment seemed painted with happy colors. Be safe all the time.

I couldn't imagine living in a place where I didn't see all four seasons. There is beauty in every one of the seasons and because of that, I really like living in a temperate climate.

Well, nothing of that sort in my place but, when I was a child, I used to get these wheezing and mild asthmatic allergenic attacks whenever minute dust particles or pollen grains went inside my nose! I get rashes often during the summer! So, if it is summer, you can see my body painted with dusting powder!

I couldn't imagine having to deal with regular asthmatic attacks because of allergens in the air. I believe I am lucky to only have the allergies that I do have.
