Would you pay to use Facebook?

There's been rumors that Facebook will charge for using their services. Even though Facebook representatives have denied there will be charges for "basic services", it still raises questions about whether or not they'll have a sort of premium service that they will charge for (and there's been rumors that includes games, too). I, for one, would not be a member of Facebook if I had to pay. I just can't afford it and it's something fun that I like to do, but it's not necessary or something I would really pay for, either. What about you? Would you pay for the right to use your Facebook account other than "basic services"?

I barely even use Facebook for free. I have no idea if this is true or not but I will say one thing. If there is any bit of truth to this rumor, then I am getting out of Facebook so fast, that you would think the blasted thing was on fire. I'm barely on there anyway to begin with, so I could just leave it behind without a second guess. I do feel sorry for the people who live and die by Facebook. Those people would really have it bad if there is a price tackled on it. It really is not that essential to my life, but for some people it is. Hopefully this is just a rumor and is not even close to happening. Not that it matters all that much to me but for some of my friends, it means a lot.

It's just a rumor, for now. The representatives have said they will not charge for "basic services, so I'm wondering if that means some things will become "premium services" or not? Because that's what they make it sound like. Either way, I know I wouldn't need it. I don't use it that much anyway, I just feel for the people who do, like my friend in Iraq in the armed forces because it's easier for her to get online and talk to people than to try to put a call in to them.

No way! I'm way to stingy to pay just for a social networking site. I didn't even like joining dating sites where you have to pay. I used to join only the free ones... and don't upgrade to premium membership because that means I'll have to pay something. Yeah, I'm that stingy, because it's not something that's really necessary. Why pay when you can get something for free?... just at a different site. :-D

I totally agree! We're on a very limited income with a lot of bills, so we tend to be pretty stingy about a lot of things. We like to "plurge" once in a while and spend $5 or $10 on a video game or something we like online maybe once every 4 months or so, but we don't make a habit of it and we try to use free sites or stick to basic use of sites as much as possible.

I won't go to facebook again if they start to charge me fee. I just want most stuff from the internet to be free. I won't simply waste some dollars per month and socialize with someone online that I don't really know. For my friends, I might just call them I won't no longer using facebook, since there is a fee associate with it monthly?

No, Facebook is not currently charging. There was a rumor going around that they would, but the representatives said no they're not going to charge for basic services. So don't ditch your Facebook account just yet because no there's not a monthly fee or anything right now. It's just rumors and talk is all .:)

Never. And if FB will really charge its members for its use, then I think it will lose 99.99% of its members. LOL. Other sites pay members for their activities but FB doesn't give a single cent to its members. If it starts charging, then I am sure that it will be the beginning of the site's demise.

No way! I'm not spending a dime! Being a well known site like that it's impossible to set a charge for usage! It's a bad way to manage a business! I'll stick to Twitter..

hi there, i have an account in facebook but don't log in frequent, if they are going to charge something then i would be thinking of deleting my account right away what good is it anyway coz all my friends are orkut lol, anyways i am not fond of other social networking sites especially facebook, although some games are really interesting i am not going to look back, i don't care if they start something like a premium service, it would definitely matter if they begin to charge for the basic service as well but i am not going to log in, it's total waste of time logging in there... anyways, have a nice day phyrre.

At any cost, I would not pay for using a social website "facebook". It is a social website and it means that it is for everybody and so everyone can have free access to it. If they are charging money then that is not at all right. Why should we waste our money just for surfing facebook. It should be free of cost. I really hope they don't do such a thing of charging money for using facebook.

I definitely won't pay. It will only be a waste. If I have to pay might as well just terminate my account.

The short answer to your question is 'no'. I've had fun at Facebook, keeping in touch with old friends and family members. But if it boils down to paying to do these things, then it's too much to ask. We were fine before Facebook came along. If this happens, I'll probably go back to the old fashioned way of keeping tabs with friends and family - giving them a call or through e-mail.

No, I will never pay for facebook. I would stop using facebook and find other alternatives if they come up with a pay solution.

No, I will not pay and anyway these are only rumors which nobody should take seriously. face book will be out of business if it charges money. It is better to spend time on my lot and earn money for the same activity.

i would not like to use facebook when free itself , why simply when you are charged Facebook is good for time pass nothing better than it doesn't give you income nor benefits you in any work of your life, it creates a friends list but not good friends list to surf, I think mylot is far more better and good compared to facebook or orkut which just helps in connecting people at one time thats it

I am not paying for the service, either. If it charges then I am not going to support that! I like associating with current and really old-school friends. I won't support it! I hope they don't end up charging.

I don't use Facebook, never had used that. If Facebook would go priced, I won't be bothered by that, because I have no plans for joining the site. And if I had to pay for it, joining Facebook would be even less likely for me. There are so many free social network sites around there, some even pay the users for participating, like myLot.com
