Why do you think God does not answer all our prayers?

Have you seen Bruce Almighty? I'm thinking what if God switched places with me like He did with Bruce every time I keep reminding Him about my unanswered prayer? What would I do if I were to take his place and God takes a vacation? Hmm What would you do? The movie was an eyeopener though why God does not answer all our prayers. Remember how Bruce replied "yes" to all prayer requests and everything in the world turned upside down? I guess if God say yes to all of requests without thinking of the consequences our world will be in chaos too. What about you, what do you think? If God switch places with you for a week what would you be doing?

God has a plan for each one of us and sometimes our prayers go against such wishes as at the end of the day they may not be that good for us in the long run. Sometimes an illness changes your life in such a way that you learn to appreciate life and what it offers much more for example.

I agree with you half-way, kelly. God answers prayers that are in line with His will for your life. But you seem to imply that illnesses come from God and that's not true. The Bible says all good and perfect gifts come from God. God does not need to use an illness to teach anyone anything...

Personally, I think that there is no God. If there were no pain, would you believe in God then?

The existence of pain does not prove the non-existence of God. There are more evidence that proves God's existence than proves otherwise. it just take a little dig. If i may use your line of argument; if you say that God does not exist because pain exists, then i say that God exist because joy, love, beauty, etc. exist. one cannot say that there is no air just because he is having a hard time to breath.

I cannot and wouldn't accept to be the most high as I wouldn't be able to play God even if God said 'take my power and run the world'? I think the world would be chaotic if this universe is controlled by humans as are seen by countries run by political heads. Part of the reasons why God sometimes 'refuses' to grant our prayers is that we are looking at prayer in a distorted way. We're viewing it, essentially, with the same kind of consumer mentality with which we view the rest of domestic living, we want this, that, and the other thing and we want it NOW. But God is not some supermarket clerk, and the world is not huge Wal-Mart. As long as we continue to labor under this misconception, we will continue to get upset every time God says no to us. The harsh reality is that God has some very strict guidelines he goes by when considering our prayer requests, and they are sometimes difficult for us to accept.

If were to take God's place for even one day, i would first reverse His only mistake he committed, that is creating Man on earth. This world would be a peaceful and happier world to survive without man. His greed and arrogance has brought turned this lovely planet into a hell. Let this planet be converted into an animal world

God made all things perfect in its time. I wasn't God's mistake, it was man's. God gave man everything he wanted-life eternal, abundant food, beautiful animals, and a purpose. God only asked for one thing - obedience. But even that man refused to give. How can you blame a loving father who give everything for his child who in the end disrespected him?

God only answers prayers when it is ask in faith and ACCORDING TO HIS WILL. I will not risk trading places with God. Unlike God, we are imperfect. Yes, with power comes great responsibility. But with power humans becomes corrupted. God's power can only be executed perfectly by God himself.

He dose answer them, sometimes the answer is no. I am the wrong person to ask this question. If I had Gods power I would correct all His mistakes. This would let animales be free and children would never have to know fear. There would be no hunger and thirst. There would be fewer people on the planet and they would only know kindness.

No. I am talking about what I would do if I had Gods power and I would try to make being on earth as close as I could to Heaven.

Have you ever heard the song "some of gods greatest gifts are unanswered prayers"? I think that song is so true! I think if I would have gotten every prayer I asked for my life would be completely different and probly not in a good way. I think that our prayers that are unanswered are unanswered for a reason. God knows what the future will hold and he knows wehter we really need that prayer or not. We are not given certain prayers for a reason.... However, I do have one prayer I asked for that still to this day I don't see why god did not answer it. I don't know if it was only to make me stronger or if I was supose to see something in a different view, but by him not answering that prayer I was so emotionally hurt that I wanted to end my life. I prayed and prayed he would never do that to me and he did and I still don't understand why he did. It was painfull though. Things are better now and Im sure he knew they would be but the incidents that happen back then I can think of them now and still cry because I can feel the pain that I felt then....why would he put someone through such pain??

God does things for a reason and sometimes we may not understand why but we should know He always has our best in mind. He has gone before us so He knows that if he give us this and that we may go the other way around. Sometimes He allows us to go through the fire so we will be tested and tried and our characters be refined. He is always after our character and our heart.

God answers prayers but in his own time and way.... We may pray for something today and not get it answered for a while.... Alot of times people say the same thing but when you ask or analyze what they are praying for it may seem a little selfish in God's eyes...... If we would learn how to pray instead of asking then maybe our prayers would get answered better plus we always need to pray that his will will be done not ours....

imagine that theres billions of people on earth and if we pray at the same time you think god can handle it. its not that god didnt answer prayer, but we cant expect him to be like internet that once we search for a certain things it will automatically give you an answer. sometimes it takes time nor years before it happened to us. sometimes we didnt realize that god already answer our prayers coz its already a year past and since we are too busy with our daily life we didnt know that it was already given to us. we cant just expect god to do everything for us, thats why he gave us a complete body parts with enough mind to think of what shall we do.

hi good and big diss. i have asked myself about this term. i am a person that will mean alot of me because i think god may punish me, so he nout answer my pray. then i went to read and ask religion men until i found the answer. in islam allah ( god ) may not answer our pray for these reasons: 1- may he push something not good to you. 2- may he save it to you. 3- may you not ask god in the suitable situation. 4- may you ask god someting wrong. 5- may allah ( god ) keep them and will answer them later. our prophet Mohammad said ( god will answer your pray but you will be patient )

salam malikum! Yes God does answer prayers but it's either yes, no or wait. Often times it's the no and wait that we struggle with because either we are impatient or we want to have it our way.

Hello candyfairy21! God does not answer all our prayers because He could foresee the outcome or consequences that may happened. He answer right away if it's for our own good or it is beneficial to mankind. I've seen that movie too; very funny and God made sure that Bruce Almighty exerted all his efforts to do what God wants. Have you noticed that there's a coming deluge and through Bruce that deluge didn't happen. If ever God switches places with me for a week, maybe I'll be doing what God's doing.

If I would take God's place for a week? Whew, that's a great responsibility. Maybe I would make Philippines a better place. Not that it's the worst country. I just wanted to live in a place that is peaceful, no political wars only political will. No divided religions. God never leaves us unanswered prayers. The answers are just around us. We are just too busy looking for the other, nonsense things. We just need to open our hearts.

I know God has not and will not answer all my prayers. I believe He doesn't care about me anymore and is laughing at me seeing me struggle with the things I shouldn't be and have for years! If I could take His place for awhile I would not answer everyone's prayers. I would answer the ones that are worthy of being answered. I would also get revenge on all the people who have taken advantage of me over the years! By totally ignoring them or put them through some hell! I would be a good and bad replacement for God!

"I believe He doesn't care about me anymore and is laughing at me seeing me struggle with the things I shouldn't be and have for years!" That is not true! I don't know you personally and I don't know about your struggles but God is a loving God and He doesn't laugh at people if they're struggling. I also have my own struggles but I don't think He is looking down at me laughing. He just wants to test your faith or teach you a lesson.

I definitely don't think that I would be able to grant all prayer requests that I would hear because I know that there are a lot of requests that people make that aren't acceptible for moral reasons. I also know that there are things that would be asked for that wouldn't be something that you would want to have happen in the world. However, for those more serious requests, I would grant those because I know when those kinds of prayers aren't granted, people can feel like their life has been turned upside down.

This is very interesting. It is true that not every prayer must be answered. But it is more to the people, to think what is right and wrong. if we do the right things, the world would definitely be a better place. If i was God, i would make sure that everybody would have enough sense to think of what is right and what is wrong.

I have seen Bruce Almighty many time and every time I feel that God has such a huge responsibility. We always pray to god and god does answer to many things but not before time and not every prayers are answered. God does best for all of us, if he is not responding to a prayer, perhaps he has some better plans for you. Got is great :)

more often He has better plans for you when he says no. We struggle with it very often when God says no. But the old folks says that when God closes a door heopens another door or even a window!

I haven't seen Bruce Almighty, but maybe I should. :) I have no idea what I would do if I had to take God's place for a day! I know that I whatever I did I would completely ruin this earth. :P I've heard recently that maybe the reason God doesn't answer all our prayers (and the reason bad things happen to good people) is because if earth was perfect who would long for Heaven?

Oh right. The craziness of this world makes me long for Heaven so bad. But I guess I'd have to prepare myself for that first.
