This could never happen in LA

I was driving to work this morning and suddenly the 4 or 5 cars in front of me came to a dead stop. A man got out of the front car and started picking up pieces of cabinet from the freeway. I'm thinking that in Los Angeles, there would have been an accident, but this guy just picked up all the pieces, moved them to the side, got back into his truck, and then pulled over next to the truck that the cabinet had fallen off of. In LA, he probably would have left it there and driven on. That was my morning excitement commuting today. How was your commute?

I'm retired and don't commute anymore. But I was out on the highway today. My Mom and I went to the Inn of the Mountain Gods (casino) about 120 miles from my house. Nothing "eventful" happened. I drove, and on the way up, Mom read me the local newspaper, cover to cover. On the way back, we did the crossword puzzle...and I didn't wreck!

Hmmm, maybe I'll run away to the casino. Maybe not, they tend not to send my money back with me.

I wasn't in work today but I shall be leavung here at about 6.30am tomorrow. There's not usually too much traffic then but, when I leave work at about 3.40 I'll be stuck in the stop-start for 15-20mins... especially given that its a Friday . I have to take a holiday next week because i still have 2 weeks entitlement left & can only carry one forward to after Easter.

The commute seemed okay unlike most days. Here in my country we ride this public vehicle we call Jeepneys. Sometimes, they desperately tuck in more people than what the jeepney normally can accomodate to have more passengers. You could even see some of the passengers sitting on the roof. It's nothing new here, though. Another is this micro-mini bus! I coined the term myself. It's size I think 1/8 of a really big bus. Worse yet, 1/16! Good thing Filipinos are tiny people. A seat which measures like 3 feet must accomodate two people. If you are very unlucky, you are made to sit on a wooden board placed in between two seats in the middle of the aisle and you had to squeeze your lumpy butt inorder to sit on the 1-foot wooden board. Thanks for reading!

Heh heh, do you know LA or what?! I've seen bits and pieces of everything on our freeways . . . you're right that a lot of people out this way wouldn't bother to pick up anything. How can they . . . everyone is speeding a zillion miles per hour - you'd get killed trying to pick up pieces from the freeway . . . and then it'd probably be a hit and run - ahhhhh!! So you see a lot of swerve action here . . . another way to have a lovely accident. We went on a field trip with my little one's class today. Boring drive to and fro . . . but afterwards we did drive through the park that had cherry blossoms everywhere . . . that was cool!

Hello Dawnald, Boy that was weird. You were lucky you were not in accident. That is hard to see thatr fard ahead too. That guy did not get hurt or hit by another car as he moved the pieces of the wood to his car and the moved off to the side again. I do hate when things fall off trucks and they do not know and we have swerve to get away from it without hurting out cars. I cannot pay for mechainc to fix my car if that happens even though I do have insurance. My deductable is $500.00 that is a lot money. I am glad you are safe and sound. Thanks and have a Happy restful Easter Weekend Sincerely Unique16

You have some excitement in your life I'll say!! My commute is from the kitchen island to the kitchen table where I sit on my chair to work. I like it a lot!! No driving in the snow, no hassle, dont have to bother with the winter tires lol. I used to cummute and it wasnt fun. Traffic, bumper to bumper with everybody being in a bad mood. Nah, I dont miss it. Ive never been to LA but its the same here, people will slalom around stuff on the highway instead of stopping to pick it up, if they did stop, they'd get hit!!

I had an uneventful commute, in the dark, but without the rain. I had buckets of rain yesterday. I do not have a commute every day. In fact my commute tomorrow will be from bed to the computer. I "worked" as security at a farm show at an arena today. Really a stress free job.

hi dawnald nope nor in Orange county on the freeway. people will veer around it and almost smash into another car. if its something light I have seen driver drive right over it, sending pieces flying in front of other drivers. oh yea there would have a an accident as people are too impoatient to stop;. you should have seen us on the freeway in our pickup years back . Atruck infront of us slammed on his brakes and proceeded to dump a keg of roofing nails allover the freeway. we had no place to go the lanes were all full so we tried to stop but our tires were shot. Others were skidding and sliding all over. we managed to avoid that but we did manage to pull over to the siding. could not go further, four new tires full of deep nails, others were similarly stopped. what a mess, the man riding in the limo pulled over behind us. his limo did not get any nails. He helped us by calling a tow truck With w his aaa card, then while our truck was being pulled away to this man's garage which he owned incidentally, he gave us a ride to his garage. this Italian man who we did not know, then bought us four tires, while they were being put on he took us to an Italian restaurant which he also happened to own, and refused to let us pay for our dinner. We learned he owned a huge chain of restaurants in several states plus some more garages and he was so taken by our little daughter that he just had to help us.Well we asked his name and we got, just call me Emilio so we still did not know who he was. but we felt like he was an angel sent down to help us., what a night.
