24 Coming To An End?

Well, I hate to disclose this but if any of the show's executive producer Jon Cassar's Twitter page is true, as he wrote: 'News from the 24 set, the crew has been told that 24 has come to an end. There will b no season 9. Its been a great run, thanx all 4 watching!' I suppose we will see the last ever episode of 24 - which has been nominated for 68 Emmy awards over its eight series - will air the epic episode on America's Fox network on May 24. Note: Episodes air on Sky 1 in the UK two weeks after their US broadcast. So, 24 fans out there will be seeing the last of this cult U.S. counter terrorists drama and not forgetting the much popular hero Jack Bauer this year. This is certainly mind blowing news! I am sure 24 fans here in myLot will be disappointed along with me. Always good to go out on a high. It seems like theyre having a lot of fun with this final series - Iron Man Jack, hahaha. For the cast and crew I am sure it will be the end of an era, never mind for their leigons of fans worldwide. Looking forward to fantastic ending, and just hope Jack survives!

Comagirl, A series of this reputation and long standing certainly deserves a high note exit. Let's just say that it is good while it lasted and so I am going to enjoy it all the way to the finish. Although, I must say that it is sad to see it to culmination this season but I suppose it is also pretty timely with the World Cup 2010 coming up in South Africa starting on June 11. So, like you, I am hoping that Bauer survives! Cheers. (Glass of bourbon in hand)

Comagirl, Well, I am sure it is a build up ploy for the movie. Because, financiers will be looking closely at margins and speculating box office collections. You cannot blame the economics here especially challenging times today. Cheers.

carol8616, All good things will have to come to an end and the successful series 24 is no exception. However, I am sure the series will be everlasting - provided you can lay your hands on their DVDs, which in my opinion is worth collecting. I suppose there's nothing much we can do when the production end wants to pull the plug. Anyway, I think you will be pleased to know that a 24 movie is being considered with the filming and release dates pending. So, there's something for you to look forward to after all.

Really sad news. I have watched 24 since the very first series and have loved almost every minute of it. Sure, the latest season hasn't been as good as some of the earlier ones but I still love the show. I own the first 6 seasons on DVD and will buy the last two to complete the set!

Bomber109, My exact sentiments and I really hate to see another wonderful show ending. This show is really both entertaining and thrilling throughout. I just hope whatever is to follow will be better.

Noooooooooo!!!! 24 is one of my favorite series! I like everything about it: the actors are great, the separate screen and timer effect, the technology, and the awesomeness. I wonder what will happen in the finale... Anyway, according to wikipedia, there might be movie coming out sometime in the future. I really hope they'll make it on the big screen ^^

horohoro01, Like you, I just felt sad that this great series has come to an end like that. I have enjoyed the show and it was good while it lasted. I am not sure if it will come onto up on the big screen or not but probably some time to come. Anyway, it is worth the wait I suppose. Until then, I suppose we will just have to wait.

This has never been a series that I've been interested in, but I do know from what I hear from other people, it truly is a great show. That, in and of itself, is sad news. In the past couple of years there have been very many great shows that have come to an end, and it really is a shame to know that this is just another of the great shows that won't be available for future viewing. I hope that in the next couple of years there will be new great shows that come out.

dorannmwin, It is a great show as the main actor Kiefer Sutherland who plays Jack Bauer, just has a great number of followers and fans. This series is really a good show and I am sure there will be a better series after this. Thanks for dropping by.

Indeed, that is a disappointment. But I'm not so surprised though. Ideas and stories like that will be difficult to write, and writers too will have a hard time keeping up with a fresh story each season. I can feel that idea generating problem in the later seasons. I could not help asking: "How could them maintain providing us with fresher challenges for Bauer and CTU?" I'm not sure if rating has something to do with this (but usually that's the main reason). But it is, then other viewers may have felt the extra push being made in later stories compared to the earlier ones.

zim1fW, One thing for sure, ratings is really what is getting these shows pulled out and it is just sad to see these great shows end like that. Also, I wonder if you had watched any of the latest shows these days but I hate to say this - they are just deplorable and pathetic. I just hope that there will be another good one emerging. Take care.

setsuna26, Sad indeed and after 8 seasons of end to end excitement, the television network is pulling the plug along with those other popular series. Like you, I've followed this series and just have to say that it is a real pity.
