When you don't want what you're cooking...

Have you ever not been in the mood to eat what you're making for dinner? Tonight was pasta night.. but I wasn't in the mood for it. I made it anyways, more or less due to lack of any other options in the house, but decided not to eat it. I fed the kids, and when they were done I made myself a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich. Oddly I've been craving eggs a lot lately! I really would have preferred an omelet, but certainly was not in the mood to make it. What do you do when you don't want to eat your dinner?

I don't really cook during the week as either my son or daughter do it as they are home first. Actually Rachel now does a lot of work from home. Sometimes I do not want what they have cooked so I shove a large potato in the microwave and then heat up some stewed tomatoes and add onions and veggies and then pour it over the potato. I keep tins of stewed tomatoes of tomato sauce for nights like these. The sandwich sounds good. Lost 16lbs but it is so hard to do it. Can exercise up to 50 mins with a break on the wii now and am much stronger. Not huffing and puffing so much when I climb stairs

That is awesome! I'm still at a standstill. My late night snacking habit has returned, and I've been stressed lately so I've been eating far too much. But I'm still going to the gym everyday and working out, so I'm not gaining any weight back. Hopefully I will soon get back on track and begin losing again.. probably when the weather gets nicer.

Since i have noone to cook for but myself i usually fix what i think i want. My problem is cooking too much at one time & HAVING TO EAT IT ALL UP. i GET TIRED OF IT SOMETIMES BEFORE I DO THAT. fOOD IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO THROW AWAY SO EAT IT I DO. LOL

Yeah, my leftovers almost always go to waste, and I hate that. I do try to make the kids eat the leftovers for lunch.. but with the older 3 in school all day, then sometimes we get busy on the weekends so we eat out or something.. I usually end up having to throw the food away because it's gone bad. Grrr.

I'm the one in the family who cooks most of the times. In a family of 5, its really hard to make something that pleases everybody, especially in a family where everyone has different tastes. I generally cook more more than one thing for dinner. tampering the leftovers, I serve it along with the meal of the day. I generally manage to like something or the other when there is a variety to choose from !!

I used to work as a chef and I found that most times I didn't want to have what I made for lunch and usually grabbed a sandwich or a salad.

Usually if I'm not in the mood to eat it, I don't cook it. But once in a while, I make something for the children and then do something else for us...

We're on the same boat. Sometimes I'm not in mood to eat what I prepared for dinner, maybe because I'm so tired already and prefer to sleep rather than taking my meal. Sometimes, when I'm too lazy to cook, I would always convince my house mates to eat anywhere else, especially when I forgot to go to the grocery store to buy ingredients.

That's never happened here. My husband and I don't have particular nights when we eat certain things, we just eat whatever we're in the mood for, nd coinsedently enough, we did have pasta tonight. It was really really good. My husband is an AMAZING, AWESOME cook!!! :)

A lot of times I don't want to eat what I am making for the kids. On those nights I usually just make a sandwich of some kind for myself. Or I will have some leftovers from another night.

Yes this has happened to me many of times!! If I make something and decide I want something else I will save it for my lunch the next day or I will have it the next night for left overs and I hate when that happens!!

For the sake of kids and hubby, I often cook food that I don't like to eat especially during those times when I was pregnant. But now that I have given birth already, still, there are times that I'd prefer to eat something different from what I had cooked. If this is the case, I don't deprive myself of eating something that I crave for. If it is egg (or anything else) that I want then it is egg that I will have. We crave for something because it is the chemical or nutrients in that particular food that what our body needs that we must be lacking.

I am not one who likes to cook on a regular basis. But when I do, I would definitely want to cook something I will eat. When my family wants to east pasta, I am sure to be the one to cook it...and I will definitely eat it. :
