We were watching Star Wars...and it got me thinking... Princess Lea has to have THE MOST famous hair style ever!! I mean, you put honey buns next to your head and say "Who am I?" and everyone will shout her name! Others are famous for their hair too.. who do you think? Can you name THE MOST famous hair style ever?

I'd say Princess Leia is a great example. You're right. If I saw someone with that hairdo, I'd know immediately who they were emulating. Another one that comes to mind is the hairstyle Jennifer Aniston wore during the early years of Friends. "The Rachel" became one of the most requested female haircuts for a couple of years.

I have to agree about Jennifer Aniston, and also Farrah Fawcetts hairdo was famous too. I haven't seen many people sporting the Princess Leah look.

When I was a little girl, my mom tried to get a lady to cut my sister and I's hair like Dorothy Hamill, the figure skater. Unfortunately, I came out looking like Dorothy Hamill's brother!

I agree that Rachael and Farrah had great hair, but others immulated them... I'm thinking of people that they were THE only ones like that. Also Ambie... ditto on the hairdo!

Farrah Fawcett was probably known more for her hair than her acting throughout her career. Cher's long and lovely black locks would also qualify...but I do agree with you...those Star Wars honey buns braids do top the list.

It was not Sade, btw. It was Sinead O'Connor that jonjee is thinking about.....

All very good jonjee and I thought of them... but if a girl shaved her head, would we all think Sade? I might... Who was that country singer that had hair to the ground? Cheryl something?? OH!! Kate!! Lots of people know KATE'S short hair from the TLC Jon & Kate plus 8!

Chrystal Gayle had long dark hair all the way to the floor and she was in heels. The bee hive hair do, the pixie, Fonzie's hair style, How about Elvira, her hair was unique.

Chrystal Gayle! That's who I was thinking of. I always thought I could pull that off... never did though. That was a bit much for me. Was Elvira's a wig?

Farrah Fawcett. When I was young all the girls were getting Farah cuts.

while the princess has the most recognizeable hairdo of all time.. i think the one most copied by the public has to be rachel (jennifer aniston) from the show friends

No, I missed that show I guess. I was telling my hubby about this discussion and he came up with another good one. Everyone would know who you were if you wore Cleopatra's hair!

She freaked me out... did you see that Martha Stewart dressed as her for Halloween a few months ago! She made a great Medusa... I like Martha. That was a complement.

hi bearballew well I always opted for Dorothy Hamill as it suited her face and for years all the hair dressers would give me that'style and on me it was just dumb. I look dreadful in really short hair. I wear my hair long and get odd looks as if lady you are too old to wear long hair, but know what I really do not care as it suits me, and it looks better on me than really short hair. Now my hubby was always trying to bet me to wear my hair like Dolly Parton but again that style was fine for her but not for me. I always admired Farrah Faucett's hair style too. but I gaveup trying to ape the stars, and just let my hair show me what was the best style for me.

I would say that Farah Fawcett had a hairstyle that many girls were trying to copy! Jennifer Aniston did too; I remember my sister trying to talk me into get my hair layered to look just like Rachel from friends. Princess Lea’s was very unique although a little impractical; I’m not sure I would have ever gone there!

Hairstyles have changed dramatically throughout history. From the most simple to the most intricate. I think however, that the most recognizable, and thus famous...is a shaved head.

When it gets hot in the summer here, I think about it. Then I'd probably end up with a burned head though. Can't win for trying...lol.

Raising hand - I shaved my head once. It was back in my piercing days.

I think it would have to be the bob. I have seen more of those than any other and it has been a timeless style.

Princess Lea is probably one of the more popular hair styles. It's pretty obvious who has that hair and with how popular Star Wars is about 99% of the people will recognize it. xD I think Carrot Top has a pretty recognizable hair style...lol. A poofy orange-ish afro isn't exactly the most common hairstyle ever (except maybe with Ronald McDonald, too!)

Jennifer Aniston hairstyle is the most famous one. I saw lots of girls going to salon and when they are being asked what they want to do with their hair lots will say they want jennifer aniston's hair. To be honest i was one of them. I like her hair alot i find it stylish and elegant. Actually until now i still want jennifer anistons hairstyle.

I've been working in salons for about 5 years now and the most popular hairstyles in my neck of the woods are...drumroll please... 1 The "Farrah Fawcett" 2 The "Rachel from Friends-you know the one" 3 The "Matt Damon" - which I never really got... it's just a long fade. 4 The "Pete Wentz" 5 The Sinead O'Connor... we participated in a fundraiser for cancer, a bunch of people ordered this one, lol. Also, got a few for Dorothy Hamill. I think that Marilyn Monroe takes the cake though.

I think that the most famous hair style ever was Jennifer Aniston because it still seems after all these years people are still getting their hair cut like that..

I think the most famous hair style should be the one back in the 60's with the big puffy twist hair sprayed and had left it up too long and it got a black widow spider nesting in it. I will never forget seeing that back in the 60's when I was fixing my hair that same way. Oooh!

Well, my immediate thought was Jennifer Anniston from her days on Friends back in the '90s. I remember when everyone wanted to go to the salon and get the "Rachel." However, when you mentioned Princess Leia from Star Wars, I realized that I was wrong. Yes, you are absolutely right, it is Princess Leia that has the most popular hair style ever. I think that even people that have never seen Star Wars would know where the hair style came from.

Hiya Bearballew, Someone tried to do my hair in ringlets like the old fashioned Dolls you know with those lovely dresses and porcelain faces but youch it hurt like mad and my scalp hurt for nearly two days after as she pulled all the curler things too tight and I had a great time washing it all out what a relief. After that I never wanted to offer as a volunteer again. Another one burned my hair an inch all over and on top of that said she had not done it. Luckily I never went back and I recovered my hair health within about six weeks until then I looked like a dandelion clock. I was just so happy that it never occurred to anyone to think of blowing it all away as you do with the normal dandelion clock flowers. Sorry I forgot to mention that I had to have a six week treatment for my burned hair that´s why it looked like a Dandelion Clock. One of the few times I have cried about my hair indeed it was something to cry about.
