So, is anyone planning on actually working during the World Cup this year? I remember 2006. I worked with a lot of west african men we did not work at all! It was fun because everyone spent the day trying to find a TV to watch or planning where we were going after work to watch the games. The World Cup is such a great sporting event and if you are a fan I am sure you will be watching every minute of every game you can. That being said, I really like the US's chances this year. With players like Donavan,Dempsy, Beisly, and Howard playing in Europe, I think this is the best chance we have ever had. I am not too excited about drawing England for the first game but I really think that win or lose the US players have to stay focused if they are going to go far. I do like our chances with the group we are in. The good things it that Rooney (he is so freaking good)is hurt right now and as much as I love the english players, the team is getting on in years. I do think that Italia and Brazil are still tops with Germany and Argentinia (Mesi is GREAT)close behind. I do think they will be the final four but the US does have a chance. Can't wait to see what happens.

World Cup this time around I can sit and watch all day...my luck huh? The Americans have players that can give stronger teams like Brazil or Germany hard times but fact is U.S is really NOT a serious contender to win this competition AT ALL just like South Korea, South Africa or Iraq. For me we have to wait for another 25 years...the next generation after Lalas, Donovan & Beisly if the Americans really love the game and serious to show the world that they are very good and serious about it like the South Americans or even Asians for that matter. Remember Australia is actually part of Asia or South East Asia and currently compete other Asian countries because it's more challenging than playing against Fiji or West Samoa or whatever the islands name is. I love football...no lie and as a lover I have to mention that U.S really does not deserve to be competing in the world cup because they cheat their way into the final round by playing against such weak teams in a very lousy group or league such as Jamaica or Canada...be serious please! Why don't the Americans be more like the Aussies and really earn their right to compete in the final rounds by playing against the south american football teams? Scared??? I guarantee on current form teams like Turkey, Japan, Egypt, Chile or even Iran will be difficult for the U.S team to challenge based on their background and commitment. Whatever!!! This coming WORLD CUP 2010 when the whole world stop and come together to watch...the most interesting thing for me is the return of my fav footballer Maradona...yeah that's right! I cannnot wait to see how they'll do (Maradona & Argentina)in WORLD CUP 2010.

Mormy, You make some good points and you may be right about the US not having a "serious chance". But these are all the top players in the world so who know what will happen. I mean, seriously, who didn't think Brazil was going to win the last cup finals and we all saw what happened there. Now, what is this about the US cheating their way into the finals? It's not really there fault who they draw for qualifying rounds. Blame FIFA if you want to blame someone. The draw is the draw and that is who you play. Don't forget that we have to play mexico and play well in the confederation's cup and concacaf to make it to the world cup finals. That is no easy road, lets not kid ourselves.

Lol..funny you mention this, because I booked my annual leave last year! letting my employers know well in advance that I will not be working at all during the world cup finals. To me it is a world event that really excites me and I would think most footy fans worldwide. I just could not concentrate at work knowing the world cup was on and was possibly going to miss the start of a match!! Regarding USA's chances of getting out of the group, I think they have an 80% chance. They do have players who play in the English prem, Tim Howard is a quailty keeper, he will be very valuable to the team. I actually predict a score less draw between USA and England, which if did happen would be like a win for the USA. As for England, the book makers have them as 3rd favourites to win the world cup?? I don't!! yes England have good players who are getting on in age, maybe there last chance to win the world cup, so you might see England really go for it? There maybe a doubt about England's great hope Wayne Rooney who may not be fully fit for the world cup? after his recent injury. England have alternatives and still have enough fire power to get them out of the group stages anyway. Rooney could be introduced later on in if he needs more time to get fully fit. England and USA to get out of the group! Spain or Brazil to win it, no other team comes anywhere close to these 2!! Can't wait..

i remember in international friendly match, usa can beat spain maybe few months ago but i forgot the score was, so i think usa can become a serious threat for many big team like brazil, argentina, italia, germany and spain.
