I'm hoping to get the opinions of our American friends here as they are in the best position to comment. However, I'm not discounting the views of non-Americans and you are most welcome to share. I'm wondering how do you see Obama as the president of USA now? It seems like he is getting a lot of negative ratings and it's the total opposite of the perception of the people prior to his election. He is being criticize left and right. Maybe it's best to hear from you.

Hi rajaiv0810 I see this as so much crap as people always here in the U.S want instant results for everything. Now he cannot undo what it took George Bush, the idiot president to do in 8 years in just one or two years,If all these backstabbers think that they could do a lot better, then just let them try to undo all the damage it took 8 years to make.Obama did not make the damage,he inherited it and everybody wants this instant results. it cannot happen instantly I do not think. I know I am being very unpopular here in mylot but this is my own personal take on this. and I have a right to that.

You have a point there. I think the damage which has been done by the Bush administration was tremendous. And nobody could fix it in an instant, not even the brightest president you've ever had. You're deficits is awfully big at this time. It's just such a pity that US, who is being looked up by the rest of the world and considered to be the hope of the people from third world countries, is having this kind of problem. I feel real bad with what has been happening there because we also have friends and family who have lost their jobs amidst the crisis.

hi rajaiv0810 thanks. I truly wish this economy could turn around here. the only reason why I am in this retirement center is because my son and I were living together in an apartment when he was laid off. we ran out of money and got behind in the rent. thus we were evicted and that made us homeless.myson is in a gov.sponsored apartment so he had a place to live while searching for work, He has been out of work now over a year, its just horrid because he has years of experience as a computer programmer but nobody is offering to hire him. and the places where he would ordinarily easily find a job are instead laying off employees.so I do know just what you mean. Happy mylotting to you.

That's too bad and I'm really sorry about the situation not just yours but to all who are in the same boat. My friend who went home last Feb., she's a nurse in Jersey, had a lot of stories to tell. She knows a particular doctor who is 80yrs old, and is currently working as a bagger in a supermarket because he lost his retirement money in the crisis. I'm sure a lot were into that. There were some Filipinos who just left US at the moment coz they can't find anything. Well just keep hanging Hatley, I'm sure your son will going to find job soon.

I believe by the time he's done (as a one-term president) he'll go down in history as a failed president. He may be vying for the worst president with Jimmy Carter. Unfortunately, we have three more years of wrong priotities, bad policies, and too-expensive programs. The deficit he's creating is going to hurt the U.S. for decades to come.

That's too bad. He was really promising before. What has happened to the "First Black President" of US. I was actually hoping that he would be like the answer to the crisis the Americans are facing now. But it seems like the other way around.

He promised hope and change, but I didn't believe him before the election and didn't vote for him. I didn't trust where he came from (Chicago politics), and he hasn't proved me wrong. He operates in the White House just like they operate in Chicago (notoriously). He's too progressive and operates outside the mainstream to the left. He said he was a moderate, but he's a screamin' liberal. His main goal is to redistribute the wealth...not abide by our constitution.

I'll read his policies to be able to understand it better. To be honest I was actaully hoping that he'll be different. And I hope he can still prove that. If he can't I don't know what will happen next.

I'm not America citizen, so it would be unfair judge him as a President to the country, but looking from the outside as he not just a President but US Ambassador I think he is doing okay. Tough job to have still I guess.

Hi, rajaiv0810. I think that Obama is a great person. It is just so much of disagreements going on about him. It is going to take time to undo what Bush has done. Wars are still going on. And many people are made because of his changes for the Health Care. I don't really have any bad thoughts about Obama. People spread many false rumors on him. But one thing that they can never say is that he is a cheater. He loves his family deeply and he is a very sincere and devoted husband to his wife and children. That is one quality that makes him a great person as a man that is president.

Hi Cream thanks for sharing your thoughts. Can you please do me a favor? Can you please explain a little what has been happening on your health care policies. There are even jokes going around about it. Sometimes when I would read it in the news it just confuses me more. Or maybe I'm a little lazy to understand the news and i prefer it in layman's terminologies you know. I hope you wouldn't mind. Please.... And I think it is very important for a leader to show love and respect to his family. And you simply can't trust a person if he is acting otherwise.

I see someone that is realizing what it means to be president. He ran on the smear W.Bush campaign, saying he's going to make things better, plus being the first real black democrat did alot to get him to his position. I would have never voted for him, because he was not ready to be president, but I think now that he's settled in, he's figuring out that its not all so easy. I'm going to give him a chance.

Not a bad idea of giving him a chance. I'm just wishing that he would be able to prove now to the people that they were right for voting him. But it's not gonna be easy. It's like inheriting a bankrupt company and to make it profitable again coming from zero.

In my opinion, after one year of his presidency, I think that he is a failure to our country. I didn't vote for him in the first place, and I definitely don't think that many of the people that voted for him would vote for him again. He will only be a one term president. In just this one year of his term as our president, he has racked up more national debt than most of the presidents before him have done combined. I think that our economy would actually be turning around quicker if he weren't the president.

Hi dorannmwin. That makes you the second person to show dislike against Obama. That makes me sad, really. Well for the reason that I used to like him before. And probably the reason why I started this discussion is that I am having second thoughts against him now. I just hope that he can still make the turn around.
