Hello to my fellow mylot users, do we really need to choose and if we have to, how much time we have to give each topic before we choose?

hi chaverzrmc Not really its not a thing you must do, but it is a' kind of nice gesture just to show someone you really thought their response was the best. nobody gets paid for this. I always wait at least a week or maybe two to let more people have a chance to respond if they choose to do so. So many times a lot of people have various reasons whey they cannot be on here all the time, so its only fair to give them a bit of time. As I said this is up to your whether you do or do not give best responses.

Well this is not a matter of earning, i mean it wouldnt help you with your earning, yea but it would do good to that person being marked as good response, and i think its not a time consuming task, and plus it motivates people, and they would look forward to post reply to your discussions in future so in a way it could help you with your earnings too, so it would be a step for betterment of two persons :D :)

I have discussions that I have started when I first joined MyLot that I have never chosen a best response to. So that means that some of my discussions have been without a best response for three years or so. Personally, I just don't have time to pick them occassionally (full time college student supporting himself though freelance writing). There pass whole months that I only come here for ten or fifteen minutes for the entire month. To get a best response from me, you have to get me to say, "Wow! I wish I would have said that." Besides, there is no rule in the MyLot agreement saying that you must pick a best response. Take all the time you want; there is no rush to chose a best response.

i have lots too but i guess i have to try to choose best response coz i know the feeling when you are chosen and besides if we don't the discussion will fall into unresolved discussions. this will be a reward to those who are following my discussions. i hope i will not forget to do hehehe, coz we when we are busy we tend to forget.

Hi chavezrmc, Choosing a best response for our discussions was not compulsory as there are a lot of myLot members did not do that all the time. It is only as an appreciation from the discussion starter to the responder and to clear our unresolved discussions. As for myLot suggestion, we should give enough time for all myLot members to response to our discussions before we awarding one. They said a week is fair enough. But it is up to us to give it earlier or later. MyLot merely suggest it. If we think that we already give a fair chances to everybody, we can award the best response who entitle for it. Some users took less then a week to give the best response but some took months before the reward it. And some did not give it at all.

I did gave it before some i didn't so i think i have to try to give it again and soon i will be choosing again. Think two months is enough for me to choose.

Easy said then done though. Especially if we receive pages of responses and there were a few responses that give a very good points. I rarely like this task of choosing a best response to my discussions. Give me headache sometimes.

I'm not an old myLot's member : I'm just expressing a personal view here. I'm pleased to receive a best response, so I try to choose a best response in my discussions. I think it's symbolically good : we are not paid when we receive or give a BR, and it's a proof for the other members that we are following our discussions. I have 2 or 3 discussions with no BR, because I could not decide. How much time ? The fastest I gave was an hour only after I began the discussion. I was looking for a free web counter and a member gave me the address of a very good one, better than expected. If an answer is very good, why not ? More often I give a BR a few days after the beginning of a discussion.

I agree with you, with a shade. I answer to discussions when I have something to say, even if a BR has already been given, like many other members do. Giving a BR doesn't close a discussion, and giving a fast BR times to times is a better strategy than to never give a BR : it shows at members who are late that you are giving BRs . As a chess player since forty years, I know that you can't always win with the same opening .

There really is no rule that we have to give the best response, if we don't want to. It all depends on the responses received, as well. I have some that I haven't given best response to yet, and it has been months. I probably will one of these days, but it isn't something that I have to do. It is really to each users discretion too, and if you feel that you have the answer that you were looking for. Sometimes it is quite difficult picking it, because there is usually more than one good answer, and since we can only pick one, it becomes a little harder. It would be nice if we could pick more than one that is for sure. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.
