One can always depend on someone in one's life. What exatly do you understand under the word dependable and how do you go about letting them know how dependable they are? Especially, if it is people who are close to you?

Hello Sweetie ! I consider myself self dependent, yet for carrying out certain tasks, before my marriage, I used to depend on my mother and after my marriage I depend on my better half and she depends on me.

Dependable for me is---they should be always there for me and most of it trust me and never ever hide anything from me---I seldom accept someone as my friend coz of these qualities i expect in them

And that my dear BB, was exactly the point. Without trust, you cannot depend on anyone. Not even friends.

Hi saphrina! I have a few people in my life that I can depend on, at least most of the time! It isn't an easy thing to have to depend on anyone, but as I have gotten older I do sometimes need help with certain things and I have some good friends who do help me out when I need some errands done and I am thankful for that! I make sure to show them how I feel about them by "taking care" of them in one way or another so that they do know how much I appreciate their help! Even if it is buying them something or taking them out for lunch or dinner or making them dinner I try to show them that I appreciate whatever they do for me in some way or another!

We are fortunate to have a very dear friend who just turned 91 on Easter Sunday. We call him our guardian angel.

Now I depend on my girlfriend for inspiration and strength and she on the other hand depend on me for emotional support and also inspiration. You are dependable if and only if you got to be there for someone who might need you in whatever means necessary. I always tell my girlfriend and the people whom I've once depend upon, Thank You, with a warm hug or a great handshake

of the four guys in my life, although i love them all, i tend to adore my second son the most. i'v tried very hard to be as equal as ever and although each has his own unique strengths and weaknesses it's the courage i love in him. when he's down i find myself down too. and when he's cheerful, i am too. over the years i'v realized that i'v grown dependable on him. and i have succeeded by not letting anyone know because it won't be good for anybody. when it's time for him to start his family i know i have to let him go...

To tell the truth,I think all person who never cheat me can be dependable. But if who cheat me even if only once,I would never believe hm/her again, never.I am not sure if I do understand what "dependable" is,anyway,it's not so easy for me to understand a word in English totally.I can just say if I depend on someone,I would trust him/her totally and maybe let him/her clear up all my problems.

Hi saph! They are being dependent because you're there for them, they know you won't let them down, if care to say about being independent sometimes then tell them in a form of love and advise. Its hard to offend someone close to us,but if you keep quiet on this, they will be dependent for the rest of their lives with you,its like a teacher to educate her students a mom to teach her siblings.A friend who always ask an advise from you, take them in a form of love, called rebuke with lOVE...

Reliable is another word for dependable. So as long as those people you rely on in times of troubles or problems are there to go to then they are dependable. Even if they are not there to solve the problem but as least they are there to comfort you. Families are the first ones you should rely on when you are down, they surely help at your problems.
