Why is it that in general men are more prideful than women?

Is it because men have more to lose in terms of face value in society? Is it because men are seen as the head of the family and if they go down then the whole family looks bad? What is it about men that makes them so prideful? Testosterone?

I think both, the family and the testosterone. You never see a woman as head of a family and well... We got some thing to be proud of I guess xD No, it's cause society made us more prideful I think.

How did society cause men to be more prideful. What did they specifically do? I think they inbred males to be competitive and to always strive to win and be macho, hence when they do win or lose they become very prideful. I wonder if it's harder to be a man or woman in society.

I agree that it is society that makes men more prideful as there is a competitiveness that comes with the male role and a responsibility in many societies taht if the man is not the only breadwinner, that the family budget is dependent on the man's income and work. The western cultires emphasize prodictivity - I guess men are especially under evaluation either by themselves or by socieety to be productive.

Very nice observation Valentine. What does society dictate women to be? I think society expects them to be motherly and yet pretty at the same time. Women now can also be the breadwinner but men are actually expected to be the breadwinner. All these societal pressures create the personalities of both men and women.

Men are always in competition with more men. Men doesn't want to be branded or tagged a coward, failure... etc. All those degrading adjectives. It hurts our egos. And hurting our egos is equal to failing the family legacy.
