Hi to all! Here is the scenario..You have a high paying job with good benefits, pleasant working environment and nice colleagues but you work on shifting schedules, with a very strict supervisor, you can’t eat on time during peak periods of your tasks, you can’t go home until your tasks are finished for the day, you sometimes worked 24 hrs straight, you travel almost two hours from your house to the office, and it will take you 5 rides just to get to the office.. Because of that you got sick! They gave you enough time for leaves with all the medical assistance..(except for medicines ) Here is the question would you still continue working with the company even if you know that it would be a big risk for your health?????? And that company is the best company you ever had.. I really appreciate your opinions..Thank you very much and God Bless to all..=)

Hi khaezi, Unless I got offer for other job, I will stick to that job. It is hard to find a job now-a-day and there are a lot of other people looking for a job right now. If I have had a planning to start my own business or need to raise money for certain purpose, I will work there until I have enough money (with a little extra) before I send my resignation latter. Or if I have extra money, I will look for a place to stay nearer to my office so I could reduce the traveling go and back from the office. Now-a-day life need us to make certain sacrifices to live our life, not richly but convincingly.

If you got another offer, you need to consider all aspect before you make your decision. Switching job might give us some relief but we know nothing about the future. Just make sure you can control whatever situation may come. I think you should be at your bed now since it is already morning there. And I believe you need to go to work tomorrow. Good luck.

Hi Kahezi, First question would be houw high is the salary? Will I not be able to get the same amount of salary if I'll be resigning and applying for another job in a different company? I'm a very hardworking person and if I love my job it does not matter to me if my Supervisor is strict as long as the company does not violate my human rights. When you say I can't eat on time does it mean I can't even grab a bite while doing my job at the same time? How often do I have to work 24 hours straight? Do I have to do it everyday or only if there is a business need? I am used to working in a very demanding, challenging and competieve environment. However, I also gauge whether the company compensates me well and follows the Labor Code.

Hmmm. I'd think twice if I have that kind of boss. It's okay with me if the work is so demanding and that there will be days that I no longer have time to sleep as long as my Boss is considerate and has a human touch. The reason I'm staying in my company even if the job is really demanding and has a lot of pressure is because of my Boss. If the job is so exhausting then the Boss should motivate her/ his people for them to at least feel good. No matter how tough the job is as long as your Boss has a genuine concern on her/ his employees then I can guarantee you that the employees will stick around for a very long time and even forever. This is based from my own experience. When there are times that I feel like giving up and just want to abandon my job my Boss would always be there to motivate me. He usually knows when I'm already so burned up. He would invite me and the other Supervisors for a coffee. We would talk and just laugh and then after that we would all go back to work. It was just as simple as having coffee but it rejuvenates the whole staff.

Health is a priority, the highest one of all. The simple fact is if your health is bad, then you cannot work (I talk from experience, I'm medically retired!). So no, I would not risk my health for a job with amazing perks and high pay, without my health, how do I enjoy it?

For me, I would still continue working on the company because I want to save more for me to have a fall back in case time will come that I could not let myself to have the work again. For the meantime, I will find ways to handle myself from stress in order for me not to get sick like moving in a near location to my company. Have enough time to rest when it's off duty, proper nutrition and balanced diet with supplementation of vitamins to boost my immune system so that I will not be sickly most of the time. It is hard to find a job with those benefits and high salary in just one package. Thus, a little pain for a lot of gain later.

Your job is really stressful. Many people die at a very early age because of stress. I wouldn't risk my health for a high paying job, my life is more expensive than all the money of the world. I don't think it is worth it. If I get so rich but then die in the end because of it, how fun could it be when I won't be able to enjoy it. If you really like the job so much, why don't you try moving to another place wherein your office is just a walk away, or atleast nearer than where you are now (maybe a place, where you could just take one ride). Just drink vitamins so that you wouldn't get malnourished and make sure that you will schedule yourself a time to relax and exercise. Exercise can help you decrease stress.
