Driving traffic to my newest website project is driving me nuts. When it comes to building the website, I'm having fun with no problem, but once I got it all set and ready, the next question is: How do I drive traffic to my website? Various sites on the net suggest various solutions, and it's all a bit of a flurry in my head already. So I wanted to ask you guys what's your take on getting website traffic? What do you think works best?

Hi, As others have mentioned the best way is via SEO methods (keywords, content, linkbuilding etc) not only does doing it this way give you targeted traffic (visitors that are actively searching for what your site has) it also has greater long term advantages (once done, it's there for good, no need to keep doing the same thing over and over) However while it is the best it's also the most time consuming to do it right the first time. A couple of good ways though to build traffic to your site is via articles and linking. You can write an article (related to the topic of your site) and submit it to the many free article directories, this has a few advantages: It gets your name out there as someone willing to discuss the chosen topic and because you have a link to your site in the authors resource box not only do you get a link back from the site you submit your article, other webmasters are able to put that article (with your resource box) on their own site which builds even more links for you. You can also set up other pages such as Squidoo lenses and hubpages etc which link back to your site. Or you can visit related forums and leave a comment etc with a link in your signature. That's just a couple of ways - there's many more - but they are good long term strategies that will help build traffic to your site, via search engines etc.

Hi. Thank you so much for your many useful suggestions. Articles seem a great way of building traffic for the long term, as well as SEO.

you can try traffic exchange sites and you can also submit your blog to blog directories. creating a traffic can be quite time consuming so patience is really the key. good luck :)

traffic exchanges provide you with fake traffic :) Do YOU see what websites you surf when you surf? I guess NO. So why should others do ?

this is really one of the hardest task. to grow of traffic on your website first of all you have to put the content which can bring back the first time visitor again. and other thing you must apply SEO. your website must be easily searchable on search engines. and in real life you can ask many to go there to check out.

i totally agree with you. i have never made a website before though. that would take alot of time, patience and knowledge in order to create. i think one way in order to get abit more traffic is to put the link on your mylot profile and any other social networking site that you use. i am sure you will be able to get more traffic that way.

Trade links with webmasters is a good way to build traffic, you can also buy traffic it depends on what your trying to do with your site buying is not always the best option. I would have someone write about your site and post the link on there blog that should help you I have a website that is there to help people make money with and i'm willing to trade links depending on what your site is. I also have a website for that blog that i'm working on it's in the development stages but i'm still working hard to get it going.

Hello, the one I have used for many years is easy hits for you, I get my referrals, sales and quality traffic from there, you can check my profile for more info. That is the best of the best, and also traffic swarm works smoothly.

You have the answer in your tags for this discussion. SEO is the best way. That is what I have done and will continue to do for my website/blog.
