I guess that's why they call them "legends" because they are NOT true.. but some are just really scary and believable...I love reading urban legends- the problem is i can't get them out of my mind after i read them. Just recently i read an urban legend about an antique doll- after that i can't sleep [i was really creeped out for no reason].. I couldn't sleep for like 2 hours and when i was able to sleep, I woke up again and again... :[ I really should stop reading urban legends.. :D I know it's silly not being able to sleep because of some scary fictional story...

lady1933 hi Urban legands means urban falsehoods that have been passed on by gullible people who are easily tricked into believing almost anything, but I learned in philosophy class years ago to have a built in crap detector to know when something smacks of untruth, and to weight it well and now with a computer I just take it to snopes and see what snopes has to say about this untruth. After that movie I saw about that horrid doll called Chucky I had a stuffed toy bear that looked a lot Chuckie and at times I would swear that damned bear's cross eyes looked evil, now I do know better but yes that movie really did get on my nerves a lot. he he so I gave the stupid toy bear away so I did not have to look at those odd eyes. shiver . silly I know. I am intelligent but I guess we all get those odd things at times.

Well urban legends have some bit of truth to them because they have to based on something. Sometimes there is a bit of truth to these urban legends, a very small bit and sometimes there is a bit more truth. Of course they are not completely true, but they could have been twisted ever so slightly or perhaps even more depending on the urban legends. Some of them are so out there that you cannot believe them but then again, there is so much about life that is so out there yet it still happens. Urban legends are something that are amusing and often times rather terrifying. However, they are something that should be taken with several grains of salt. It is just entertainment in many ways after all. Is it entertainment that has some basis in reality? Perhaps some more than others. And yes some of them are rather vivid, but in the end, they are just mostly fictional and are really nothing to worry about too much.

They are just that, urban legends and most are just stories and make for great reading. Some urban legends do have some elements of truth to them though.

Hello lady1993, A good urban legend scares the reader to lead him/her to find an implied moral. I think that the moral of this one is : "Don't forget a doll, because she will never forget you !" These urban legends, narrated on a popular and realistic mode reflect the fears and anguish of our world. They are interesting to read and discuss, but you have to think of them as modern fables, and to don't take them seriously.

its only based on parents on the early days trying to scare their children, so that they would not do bad things. or so that they will follow their commands. and when the children grows up they too say the same things to their children.thats why we have them today
