Another dream broke my heart

Okay well...it wasn't exactly a bad/sad dream but...here's the story. I love kids, but oddly enough I don't want to have my own, but I may want to foster and/or adopt in the future...so of course, when I dream of a kid I usually am saving them and taking them home with me...so here's what my new dream was. I was parked in a residential street, I was outside my car, and this adorable little 4-5 year old girl walked up to me. Her hair was dirty, her clothes were dirty and she looked hungry. I thought she was homeless; I picked her up and asked her if she had a mommy and daddy. She nodded. I asked her where she lived, and she pointed to a house just across the street from us. I walked her over, and knocked...no one answered. I went into the house and checked the garage, no one was home. The girls parents left her alone all day/everyday to fend for herself (which she couldn't do very well). So I guess I called the cops because they showed up lol. I took the girl up to her room to pack some things to take with her (I had already told the cops I was taking her home with me!) There was a little boys room in the house too, and when I asked her where her brother was she wouldn't answer me. That made me even more nervous for her, I wanted to get her out of there fast! I even remember feeling like I wanted to spoil the crap out of her; take her shopping, make her a banquet of food! (Isn't it odd how we can actually FEEL things like that in our dreams?) ANYWAYS! Whenever I wake up from a dream like that (where I saved a kid) I always feel bummed over because it didn't really happen!

Hi Lily... It is really a wonderful dream... I also love kids.. Unfortunately, my fiancee is unable to give me a kid (some medical thing) and we plan to adopt one, after we get married... I think, you too should adopt a kid now... They are so lovely, innocent and happy creatures.... I Love Kids...

Oh yes, I am gonna have to adopt, there is no other option.. Thanks a lot for your support... And hey, I don't think that you need to adopt... I mean, you're not like my fiancee, are you? In some time, you can get married, and have your own kids....

That I know of, no I am not like your fiancee. But I WANT to adopt as opposed to having my own kids. I feel SO sorry for people that want to have their own kids but can't...and I know I'm taking advantage of something that's so important to others (the ability to have kids)--but I just want to adopt. I am NOT comparing kids to animals..but I see it the same way I see adopting dogs from shelters. I want to save a child that is already here, that needs a home.

Adopting is great; I'm sorry you can't have your own kids but you're doing a wonderful thing! I can't adopt right now...I'm 21, single, and still in college--I have years to wait! lol

In most states, it wouldn't happen like that anyway. The girl would go to social services after the police picked her up and then they would have to put her up with someone who had been previously certified by social services. So you couldn't just tell them you were taking her.

Oh, I know very well it wouldn't happen that way. It was just a simple/fast way for me to get the little girl in my dream.

I think I'd be a good candidate for adopting/fostering--right now I'm a freshman in college, majoring in social work, and I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew that I've babysat a lot! So I have lots of experience (plus I love kids!)

If you were pre-approved, it might go pretty quickly. A friend of mine got a call at work. His wife told him to see if he could get the afternoon off, go buy a crib, diapers, baby formula, bottles, etc. Social Services had called. They were getting a developmentally (probably partially because of the parents treatmnet or lack thereof)delayed 1 year old that was more like 6 months. They had to be ready by 8AM the next day.

Don't let it get you down. You look young enough, I am sure that in the future there is a little girl or boy waiting for you..:)

Thank you! Maybe a boy AND girl are in my future lol I have it all planned out! I want to adopt a boy that is around 5 or 6, and a girl that is around 3 or 4...but despite all this planning I still have a long time to wait!

I used to dream about adopting a child that was 5 or 6. But the years went by and the dream slipped away. I'm 52 now. I waited until I could afford a child and I've never been able to. Some day I'll do the Fresh Air Fund where you get a city kid for 2 to 4 weeks a year. Then age won't matter and they give you coupons to take them places cheaper, too.

With the missing brother, it almost seems as if you've done social work with children and seen awful things. That would have creeped me out...

Hello lily, oftentimes it does happen to me too having such strange dreams and even very good dreams which I like most but in the end you just woke up so frustrated to know that it was all just a dream. I do even had dreams which I feel so bad, really so sad that when I woke up I am sobbing. I think those dreams were all in our subconscious mind... we tend to think so much of one thing or something that we actually wanted to have and it just in our dreams sometimes it is fulfilled or some stories happened. Happy mylotting.

My dreams have a broad range--in a lot (most) of my dreams someone bad is after me, so I get a lot of running done in my dreams lol...then I've had a few where I find a child(like this one)..and sometimes it has to do with animals. I've had really bad/graphic dreams that made me wake up sobbing too. But when I wake up from these dreams with the kids I just have a heavy heart.

Oh I'm not planning on starting anything like this any time soon, but I'm still planning--can't help it! But don't worry, I won't be rushing into anything so important!

I wonder what kind of fruit a Jungian analysis of your dreams would bear... Hmm...

that is a nice dream. maybe deep in your heart this is your calling. to help children in need.i hope in the near future you can make it into reality. those childrens are adorable. and i dont why many parents rush into things like having a child without even thinking if they can support them or not
