Which One Do You Prefer, Contact Lenses or Eye Glasses?

Since grade school, I have poor vision. I started wearing glasses at the fifth grade up to 2nd year college then I used contact lenses. I have been a contact lens user for 13 years since my vision isn't that good and I prefer contacts because of its handiness versus the thick lenses I'll be wearing if I wear glasses. One few weeks ago, I went to the ophthalmologist because my left eye got irritated and became inflamed to the point of closing. I was given an antibiotic and steroid for this. The good doctor told me to start wearing glasses again because it's much safer. If I were you, are you still going to wear contacts or be resigned to wear thick glasses? PS: My grade is 525 left eye and 550 right eye

I knew the problems with contacts and causing eye infections from when my daughter kept wearing older contacts and not telling us. I wear glasses most of the time, but occasionally wear my contacts, especially if I am dressing up. That way I my eyes are able to breathe, which is one of the main problems with contacts. So, maybe you should wear your glasses and when your eyes heal up, then ask your doctor and see if you can switch them. Like maybe you can wear your contacts during the weekdays and glasses on the weekend or vice versa..

Thanks for the advice. It seems I have to follow the doctor's advice and refrain from wearing the contacts for three months. She said my cornea is somewhat scratched and it may take a while before she can allow me to wear contacts again.

Oh yes, if your cornea is scratched, you should follow your doctor instructions. When the 3 months is up, however, you can ask her if you only wore your contacts occasionally like I mentioned, she'd probably agree. I told mine that is what I was doing and he was all for it, said it gave my eyes time to breathe because even with the breathable contacts, your eyes need more air..

Presently, I am undergoing treatment for the scratched cornea with optic drops (steroids) so I'll probably have to wear glasses for a while so that my eyes can breathe. Thanks for the advice. :)

Hi, ajarvaise. I have been wearing glasses ever since I was in the 1st or 2nd grade. I love wearing contact lenses. I just would prefer wearing ones that will not irritate my eyes like that. But now all I wear is glasses.
