Just the thought of seeing that pointy needle infront of me makes me feel so bad .Now that im all grown up whenever i see something sharp like needles or just bout anything sharp theres something bout me that feels scared .Are you scared of injections or any kind of needles too? and how do you cope with it?

I'm terrified of needles have been since I had one scrape the bone. The way I deal with it is I look away, as long as I don't see it I'm usually ok, and I usually hold onto something like a squeeze toy with other hand. I have explained this to most medical people and they understand, although one said I was stupid, and I freaked when I saw the needle and punched him!

Same feeling that i have whenever i see the needle already its as if im starting to panic and terrified already. Sometimes i do what your doing like i just look away and try to bend my attention to something else. But when i feel the needle entering my body already it feels something else its like im being electrified or somethin. I just wish i will be able to cope with this feeling sooner or later its so hard to explain

Serves him right dumpertaker, he's a medical professional and he's suposed to understand about your fear. I guess it's not right to say someone stupid just because you fear of something.

Yeah how do you suppose someone will recover from the said fear if professionals will be acting that way. I join with sheanne with the thing serves him right lol . I think people who are scared of something needs understanding than bad judgement coming from other people ;)

The moment I read the word "needle" or "injection", I immediately felt weak. I'm very very VERY scared of the thought of injections. I'm not really scared of needles because I use them to sew. But when I think about the thought of needles penetrating my skin, I feel so weak. Just like right now! I can't type decently because I'm starting to sweat and get so weak. I don't how to get over it, and whether I will actually get over it. I need to have my flu vaccine this year, and I honestly don't know what to do. It's a requirement for college, but I really don't want to because I'm terribly afraid of getting injected. :|

I can totally relate, even though im a man and all i still freaked out when i know that a needle is going to be injection inside my body.I dont fine at ease at all until its over , but if i need to do it again then my fear will again return .Some of my friends are telling me that i just need to face it and in time i will be able to overcome it but i doubt it, maybe its true but it will take me lots of years to get used to it lol

Yeah we need to sooner or later face our fears and try to get over them as much as we can. Or maybe it will help if you have a close friend near you hold her hands or even better if you have your boyfriend to be with you just hold his hand and then im pretty much sure the fear wont be that bad anymore

Yes! Even though it's not really painful, I just find it disturbing. Last year had to have my blood tested TWICE in 1 day. Even though it was just like an insect bite or something, I really can't stand the thought. I hate it so much. Oh well, I guess I'd have to live with this fear for a long time. Hope we get used to it someday somehow, though. 'Cause having this fear is really inconvenient especially because some jobs or schools require blood tests and injections.

I actually have never been afraid of needles. I am one of those people that always has to see when they are putting an injection into my arm. I am a person that doesn't mind giving blood because the needles don't bother me. It has been something that I can't really say that I enjoy, but it is something that doesn't completely make me anxious. Now, if they wouldn't let me see when they were sticking, I don't think that I would be able to handle it.

Wow! now im really jealous of your attitude when it comes to those needles i mean i rarely hear someone says bring it on! when it comes to those pointy stuff .But i think your right in the first place it wont hurt alot but instead it will be a tool to make us well or feel better in the long run. Maybe some people are just scared (including me) because of the thought of there will be something that will pierce through our body lol . Its always fun to read that there are people not afraid of needles too thanks for sharing and hoping to hear more of your thoughts pretty soon my friend

i have always been afraid of needles, any kind. i only came to terms with that particular aspect in health and medical care a few years ago. before, i try every reason in the book and elsewhere, just to avoid the needle. i even feign sickness or set conflicts just to run away from a possible session with the needle. now, because injections and blood extractions are part of monitoring one's condition, needles no longer bother me.

Good for you , i mean for you not being scared or troubled with needles anymore. Yes it is a fact that we need those shots for health monitoring and other health issues too, but as for me up until now im not yet that immune to that thought of me getting shots.I just wish that sooner or later i will be able to fend it off so that i wont be experiencing those bad days anymore lol

I have always been afraid of needles. I think it started because of association , then it proceeded to me usually passing gout after wards. The anticipations is awful for me , lol. I try to avoid it as much s possible if I can. So I am sure I am part of the reason as to why I react they way that I do.

Believe me your not alone, most people from this topic of mine are scared too, well at least 70-80 percent are lol . I think its kinda normal for us to freak out when it comes to this sharp pointed thingy .Because we know it will be injected inside of us so we are expecting some pain although it wont be that much it will still have a huge impact on us .But just as my other doctor friends tells me , that there will come a time that i will get used to it so theres no need to be worried that much . Thanks alot again for sharing your opinion with me

some two years back. i had just passed my first aid course. i was asked to help out some hyperactive children and persons who were also intellectually challenged as well as those who manifested behavioral misadjustments for their annual health check and vaccination. some of these people were real big and real strong. there were lots of persuasion and struggles of course. but to me, what was more challenging weren't all those but the long sharp needles i have to face as each enters the room.

what i meant was. the trauma these people went through to finally getting injected, after sometime, was too much for me too. i was tired probably from lots of chasing and struggles. i was tired from seeing pain and trauma and yet pain and trauma again. or deep down i was probably scared of needles or the sight of needles. or perhaps the sight of people getting injected, like what you said. it was an experience...

Hahaha good for you then i mean to be able to help and all, but if that way me i dont know if i will be able to help or what lol .In addition to me being scared of injections, im also in a way not so fond of seeing people being injected. Its as if its me whose being given the shot. Everytime i watch a movie like horror movie or suspense where in people get screwed up and killed i just cant avoid closing my eyes when theres a killing scene, its as if i can feel the pain too... What a terrible feeling lol

I don't like needles but I just look the other way when the doctor or nurse sticks me with one. I just look away and when it pokes in I just try to think it will be out soon.

Thats one way to do away with it, i mean we try our best to look the other way instead so that we wont be affected that much with the thought of the needle penetrating our body. Just thinking bout it makes me shiver already, what more if we will be feeling it already it must be really aweful! But hey sooner or later we will have to get used to it. Because in life we will be often visiting the doctors whether we like it or not

I am afraid of needles or anything sharp entering the skin. I have passed out more then once from it. I have to turn my head. Once a medical assistant came to my house to do blood work on me for my insurance and she kept sticking me with the needle. She was new. She asked me if this is where they usually stick you and I looked as she was putting the needle in my arm and I could just feel myself getting light headed. I turned to my house who was holding our 5 month old at the time and said I don't feel so good. Then I was out. I was sitting at my kitchen table and falling out of the chair. Hubby was trying to hold me up with the baby in his arms and the girl was just standing there. I think I freaked her out. She quit her job the next day lol. Guess I wasn't a good person for her to work with on her first day.

I'm horrified of needles or anything else, for that matter, penetrating my skin. For no real reason, too; it's an unjustified fear that I just have. It was so bad when I was little that at one point I actually hung onto a door frame at home and my brother had to pull me off of it to get me to go to the doctor. Later that day, I hid in the doctor's office bathroom for over a half hour trying to avoid my appointment. At 21 years old, I still have to hold someone's hand to get my blood taken for whatever reason. It used to be my mom, and now that my husband and I are together he goes with me and holds my hand while talking about our children (we are child-free and speak of our cats as our children). He'll bring up what cute things our cats did that day, how lucky we are to have such beautiful kits, etc., and just thinking about my babies relieves me of most of the terror out of getting my blood drawn. I've had a few instances where I'm thinking about my eldest cat and don't even feel the needle at all. Obviously thinking of beautiful things won't help everyone, but I'd give it a try. Think of your spouse, your kids (whether animal or human!), oceans, music, whatever makes you happy. See if it helps your mind go elsewhere.

Indeed i also think alot of my kids (cats) most of the times. Im still a bachelor but im so fond of cats and when im getting a shot of those scary things i just happen to think bout alot of cute moments with my kids and then it just goes away, i mean before you know the shot is over and i can finally say its over lol .Those happy moments, the people with you and all other happy stuff will really help you lessen the fear. Sometimes other people laugh at us telling us were chickens, how i wish they would feel the same for them to understand the feeling. Thanks for sharing and hope to see more of your thoughts and ideas pretty soon

I'm terrified but getting better with shots. I think it started when I had a bad experience with a needle-got a shot in the arm (I had to have it after childbirth because my blood type is A-and my body destroys any foreign objects such as fetuses) It was so painful it hurt for months afterward. I recently got a flu shot and my nurse is so good that I didn't even know she'd given the shot. The funny thing? I have 3 tattoos! I think I'm okay as long as I don't see the needle itself!

Yeah i think thats the way to go indeed, like dont just look at it or maybe you can also try something like think about something else, like the time that your with your special someone or with good friends. Those happy moments will make you feel at ease and before you know it the shot is over already , well its not about the pain at all i know its not painful but the thing is the fact that you will be injected with a sharp thing is what makes me freak out alot .

When I was a child I was afraid of needles. I think most children are. Along the way, I have had so many injections and IV's that it is no big deal anymore. I still look away though. The worst thing for me is having blood drawn, when we got our blood test for a marriage license, I passed out when it was my turn.

How i wish that time is now lol , well in addition to me being scared of needles im also not fond of other people getting shots too, somewhat makes me feel a lil bit edgy .But im hoping that sometime soon i will be able to overcome this fear of mine , so that i wont have any trouble going to the doctors office anymore

I used to be afraid of needles until I started working as a receptionist in a doctor's office. I had the doctor draw my blood for testing and didn't feel a thing! The next time I needed bloodwork done, I even watched him draw it. I now watch whenever anyone gives me a shot and even offered to be trained to give shots to our patients. As long as the person is in control and knows what they are doing, then needles aren't that scary to me.

I don't scared to be injected with needles but I don't feel really comfort. I am rarely sick so the only time I get injected is when I got immunization. My sister was a nurse so I get use to see or hold a needles. I think you had to handle your fear my friend, today needle is something we had to face when we sick. Maybe you can buy needle or something you afraid and put it somewhere you can look it every time, try to hold it might work.

Your pretty lucky because your sister is a nurse, i mean it wont be that hard for you to get used to it anymore. Then maybe the reason why your not feeling that bad about needles anymore is because you often see them all the time.In that case how i wish im just like you, i mean that i dont need to be afraid of those stuff anymore. Thanks for sharing and have a great day ahead of you

we're the same, when i was small i really don't like having injection sessions.i fell different when thinking that there's something sharp that will point at you.i just shut my eyes close and think of something nice on my thoughts while they are needling me.but sometimes it really comes into my mind that i have to be injected. i also didn't like something that is directed on me.example is when we are eating with the whole family, and the ladle of the rice is pointed at my direction i don't feel comfortable with that.i always see to it that there's nothing pointing at my direction.to be safe,i guess.

I wonder how come most of us are afraid of these stuff. Maybe one of those who commented earlier is right, because needles represents pain in our mind thats why when we see one we tend to shy away or be afraid of the thought of pain. But as my other friends told me we can always try something to get rid of this bad feeling, like we can always try facing it and getting used to it as well

I am afraid of needles too when I am at the aged of between 5 until 12 years old but when I learn about the reasons behind immunization and the benefit one could get from it. I started to think a little bit mature and just close my eyes everytime I another boost of injection ranging from BCG, tetanus, Hepa etc... Since thinking about the pain and the fear that the needles may break on my skin from my wilder imagination it could be so funny sometimes, but luckily it never happen so far. I just make myself calm and when others coax me not to be afraid since it is not really painful and they said it is like being bitten by an ant so as my consolation. The things when i am afraid is being cut by anything that is sharp that it gives a wider cut that so very cruel when one experience extreme excruciating pain. It really terrible so that is also the situation whom i do not like to undergo and as much as possible when I could avoid it then i would elude it as much as i could.

I remember when I was a kid, I used to really cry out loud in the doctor's office when I had to be injected with something, to the extent that the doctor's secretary had to bribe me with chocolates just to shut up. haha. right now, everytime we'd have our annual physical, I still get a little bit scared, but not as much. yey for me! Needles are really a necessary part of life. Needles are used to inject stuff to make you feel better. So I just have to suck it up and try not to think about it when the doctor or nurse is injecting me. I am not a huge fan of needles and will try not to become a Diabetic that needs insulin injections everyday.

I think all of us are afraid of needles, It symbolizes one thing. Pain. If ever I'm taken any invasive procedure with the use of needle, I distract myself. I dont look at the whole procedure, the more I do it the more it scares me. I dont like it that much, much more the pain.

Yeah i think thats the best way to go indeed like we try to distract ourselves and just think bout something else while the process is ongoing then it wont be that painful at all. At least for the whole duration lol .And i want to believe that there will come a time that we will get used to it as well , like we dont need to be afraid anymore and just face it as it is instead ;) Thanks for reading and commenting as well
