Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch, one of the top Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Monday morning that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been mentioned as a possible nominee to the Supreme Court. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20002235-503544.html What do you think of Secretary Clinton as a Supreme Court Judge? I am still on the fence on this one. What is your opinion. For those that didnt read the link - there are other names being considered, Clinton has NOT been nominated. She is just a name that was brought up.

I think she would be a terrible choice. She does not really know how to tell the truth and has no problems in covering up things. The supreme court justices above all else are supposed to preserve the constitution and she appears to have no respect for it at all.

....Hi laglen, I heard this mentioned along the way. I think she would be faltered to be considered, don't know that she is over her itch to be president, and I don't think she would be nominated this time. I know she is very smart, and a lawyer, but I don't know if that would get her to the top as a nominee. I also wonder if she would want to be nominated. Many considerations here. Kagen may be the choice of the day on this go around. There are many who I think are considerably more well versed in the law than Secretary Clinton, because of practicing. Take care.

Oh I agree, however, I have not looked at the others, I wanted to wait until the list is a little smaller. They are all just ideas w=right now. Thank you for your input!

GAAAAAHHHHH!!! Don't say stuff like that! Have you never heard of the "hundredth monkey?" Or even memes?? I had a nightmare last night which I know was inspired by a mere glimpse at an ugly website, & I'm still trying to erase it from my brain. The notion that "Queen Hilary" might be in such an influential position for life? Agh...I feel a heavy, cold stone in my belly at the very idea... {shudder} Maggiepie GO TO Open Mike CATEGORY & TALK ABOUT ANYTHING--EVEN 2 or MORE TOPICS AT ONCE!

Well as others have said...she has been a lawyer...but never a judge..so she is not really qualified.

You are not required to be a judge to be a Supreme Court Judge. You dont even have to have a law degree

wouldn't you think you should appoint someone to the supreme court who DOES have experience you would think, but I do wonder. He has made some pretty out there appointments. I think I would expect him to appoint a felon.

ya....but as a president...wouldn't you think you should appoint someone to the supreme court who DOES have experience? It is the highest court in the land...so the most experienced and best should be appointed. That is common sense to me. To me she is not qualified to sit on the bench.

It would be amazing, wouldn't it. Never acted as a judge before, fair credentials as an attorney but her only credentials on the bench is that she is a celebrity and public servant. Maybe the Court could use someone who is not a lifetime jurist, just not Hillary. Elliot Spitzer's looking for a new job... he's 'available'.

I'm on the fence too. But I think she would do a good job. She is a little to progressive for me, but I think she would not be an activist judge. Something I don't want. Obama could do a lot worse than Hillary Clinton.

I am hoping this discussion gives me pros and cons. I would never have voted for her for president, now I would reconsider.

I do not think she would want the position. If you are a Supreme court judge you are irrelevant for most of the year. Then a couple of times a year SCOTUS hear were you are mentioned, briefly. The only SCOTUS judges that are even discussed are swing votes judges, those that write the majorities opinion, the dissents opinion, and the Chief Judge. Hillary will not be any of those. As to my opinion of Hillary as a judge, has she ever been a judge? No so case closed.

i agree I dont think she would want it and I would think it would be Obamas way of getting her out of the way. She doesnt have to be a judge to be appointed.

I wasn't aware Hillary clinton had ever sat on the bench. Has she been a judge too? I know she was a lawyer, but was she a judge too?

There is no requirement that you be a judge. I am pretty sure you dont have to be a lawyer either, they just always have been.

As far as I know, Clinton has never been a judge so she wouldn't be qualified to sit on the Supreme Court, would she? I was an attorney but then became the First Lady...followed by a Senator. I've never given it much thought so I don't know how I'd feel about her being there.

I hope she's more truthful than her philandering husband if she is nominated and approved.

I think we would all hope that! I doubt it will go anywhere, I just thought it was an interesting idea.
