WHen was the first time you started using the internet? Are you still using the same provider? When you started did you use dial up?

Summer of 1995. That provider doesn't exist anymore and yes it was dial up. CDMA connection came in 2004 or 5 if I remember right, giving around 16 kbs max. On WLAN since two years. Not broadband and service varies tremendously - often no better than dial up.

Wow, I just realized that it has been a decade ever since I have been on the Internet. It has not seemed like it has been that long, but it is true. A lot has changed in fact, mostly the Internet provider I was on. I think though for the most part, the Internet has really become more wide spread. When I got online, it was a very different world. When I started up, I was on dial up Internet. Needless to say, I do not know how I survived on that Internet service at all. It was something that was very bad to say the least. The thing kept disconnecting and redialing at the worst possible time. So it was not good times. After about six months(I'm really surprised I lasted that long to be honest), I switched to the cable Internet as of then. Pretty much the same provider too, but it has changed names twice and then got absorbed by Comcast, but still the same thing more or less. Still a decade later and that is about what has changed.

I, too, started up on the dial-up and was on it for some time. I have been on the net for about 13 or 14 years; so more then a decade. I know that dial up would be really slow but if money becomes scarce it would be the path I choose;)

I started using the internet when I was in high school but I was just renting a unit in a shop because our place is not accessible with in ternet connection. Now I am using modem at home and broadband connection at work. Sometimes the modem is disconnected but is fine with speed when the network signal is good.
