Hi friends I am back after 4 days and all credit for my absence goes to the broadband connection that I am having at present.Last Saturday it went off all of a sudden and from then on I am running from pillar to post to restore ot but alas I wasn't able to fix it even now.I managed to get hold of another connection from a different service provider and that's how I am here communicating with you.I missed you a lot friends. But have you ever witnessed any such disruptions and what did you do to rectify it?

Hi Naxous, I lost my net connection as well for about a week I think. All I did was rant to their customer support! I didn't change a net provider for it would take a week or two before I would be able to get the new one. Good for you, you're able to have a new provide asap.

I went for a wi fi connection and one that runs on prepaid so that I can switch to my original provider when things get back to normal.Wasn't it irritating experience to bear with?

Thanks for your response friend ridwan and though I generally don't use the connection to play and read books but for other purposes still it is a bit irritating to not have it and that too when we pay a hefty fee for it each and every month.

Hi kingsizewe there is nothing to feel glad buddy. The problem is already surfacing and you must make every effort to sort it out with your service provider if you don't want to spend days without the net connection.I also went through similar situations and tried to neglect it and now I am where I am.Thanks for your response.

When my internet connection goes down, the first thing I do is assure that I have no connection to the internet at all, regardless of what the lights say on the modem and router. Then I check all wiring before running a diagnosis test. If I am still stuck, I will open the browser and attempt to go to Microsoft updates, even though I already know I wont connect. The reason i do this is because once the browser comes back saying it wont connect, I am given an option to have Microsoft attempt to correct the problem. Often time this helps. If I am still unable to get online, I will call support at my Internet Service Provider for answers as I am paying good money for internet services so it better be up and running. If it is not, I want to know why and when they will have the internet services restores. If it is too long of an outage, say for two days or more, I want to see a credit on my bill.

They would give me credit. If they want to keep me as the 25+ year customer that I have been. I have never had a problem not getting credit. I would only ask if the service was out for two days or more. Also, by talking with customer service rather than tech support is a good way to start. If the customer service agent refuses to credit your account, ask to speak with their supervisor. If your service has been down for over two days and is no fault of your own, demand credit. Don't be rude but make a good argument. Have the supervisor or CS agent see it for what it is. For a internet service provider, that you are paying for service from, fails to provide service for more than two days, due to their own technical issues, that doesn't credit your account, is not worth being with. I would not only switch but before I closed my account with them, I would contact some kind of consumer protection company, the better business bureau and the FTC, all of which I would lodge a formal complaint with.

Fine my friend but what will be your reaction if the service provider don't give you credit? What will you do to make them pay for their fault? Please tell me friend as I am seriously thinking of following any good suggestion from you.

The broadband connection that I have does play hide and seek sometimes but not for long periods. It does disturb me when that happens but I have always lined up other activities to fill up those hours which I would have otherwise spent on the Net and wait anxiously for it start working again.

So you seem to have back up plans too and that's a very good sign. However, though you have stated that the broadband connection that you have is not disrupted for a substantial length of time yet I am rather inquisitive to know what you will do if it goes off for a substantial length of time like mine?Do you have back up plans? If you do have then please share with me so that even I can follow them as I really don't have any plans and don't know what to do when the broadband connection goes off.

It's really hard to take the chances that you cannot use your computer because you don't have connection in 4 days so you can go to computer shop for the mean time so you can surf the net for awhile even you don't have a connection in your house and rent for the computer near you.

Do you have a laptop? My daughter has a laptop that by all means should have been connected to my desktop signal. It would not connect and she thought it was something with the connection. Come to find out it was several viruses that were on her computer. Once those were cleaned out she has had no problem connecting.

I've experienced internet connection outages with my dsl as well. But then, come to think of it, these things can happen to any type of internet connection. Technical problems can occur anytime and sometimes, they have to do maintenance work. If my internet connection is down, I'd call my ISP up and ask then what's going on. The good thing about my DSL connection is that after 3 years, I never had problems isolated to my connection. It means that my internet connection usually goes down only when something happens in a wide area or if a huge part of the network goes down. Well, I really don't rant too much about it. I can just remind them to fix it but it probably won't help them if I shout at them or something. It happens so as backup, I use dial-up! I just use them to check emails and log off and play games and watch movies. You really can't download much with a dial-up connection nowadays. If there's a problem with the network itself, we really can't do anything besides reporting them and wait for them to fix it. If it's a problem for your connection only (the rest of your neighbors are doing fine), then that's probably a good time to complain.

Oh I'll panic! I have a lot of things to do online not only mylot. I'll gonna miss chatting for sure and writing here in mylot. At this moment I encountered that problem due to the blinking of my router. I disconnect to internet for so almost 12hrs. and resume right now. The worst thing for me is to disconnect to internet connections but that was me feelings i think.

I think it is time that you ask your service provider to look into the problem as you are already suffering due to lack of internet connection. There is nothing to panic and if you can persuade your technician to rectify the problem then you will be fine. Thanks for your response.

a lot of trouble I faced, as it is covered by a large and high buildings with a weak signal. Even for a day off, I feel the need to pause for a few weeks to recover my network. But, there is still no change. I do may be to move the place to find where the signal is best to do the browsing.

Usually the connection will be normal within 2 days.Mostly I will try to fix the problem by own...all the times it will be fixed..but sometimes there will be server down, that time they have to repair it.I will contact them ans ask them to do as soon as possible..they will do mostly otherwise I won't mind fighting with them...lol.!Really it will be very boring without internet..So i just play games and listen to songs when I don't have net connection..

Well when my connection is off I guess I just go nuts for a while, cursing the wretched creatures who will never pay me back for these lost days and I guess, after I cool I start thinking about doing something like going outside or reading a book. Or just hang out and smoke shisha and talk with buddies...

I am facing the same issue at home right now.The house next to my place was being demolished and that screwed up the telephone lines and and the internet lines also.I am not able to access the internet at home and do all the accessing and browsing from a common portal for employees in office when I have free time.I am trying to get this rectified and hopefully the connection should be up and running in a couple of days and could help me from going insane.lol.

hi, yeah ,i had the same problems a couple of weeks b4.It seems the internet provider got some problem with the incoming line.It was down for almost 2 days which gives me quite a headache. This are due to my online selling where i gotta watch it each day without fail.Luckily the service man came to rectified it quite fast. Its the hassle of tracing the source of the breakdown that gives me the headache. It may be due to computer set-up,cables,phone lines, provider and etc... The disruption caused me to go out to cybernet to surf during the period.Hope it wont happen again.

You are lucky enough friend that your problem has been resolved within a couple of days whereas in my case it is already 5 days old and still showing no signs of improvement and all that I am receiving from my service provider is assurance that it will be rectified very soon.

Glad to have you back Naxous. If ever my internet connection will be lost i would be so sad. I will call my provider and ask for credits as I am currently making a living online so my earnings depend on my internet connection. I hope you can also contact your internet service provider so they can do something about the connection and hopefully give you credits.

Right caliya I was going to ask about that and thanks that you did it.Even U depend upon the internet a lot and so the service provider must give us credits in the form of reduced charges for the month but I don't think that they will do that.Nobody likes to accept their failure and take the responsibility for the problem.Still I will definitely get in touch with my service provider and ask for the refund. Thanks for your response.

I don't even have a connection. I use someone else's. You know, those open connections on WLAN's. I'm not paying, I'm stealing, I'm cheating - and still I complain! Only to myself of course, but I get pretty mad when some unknown person shuts down his computer and goes to bed. My connection is lost - except it isn't really mine! Do I feel guilty? Absolutely not, because when I was paying for a connection, 30 euro a month, it was lousy service! Shutting off all the time. No customer service and every complaint ended up with "the problem is in YOUR computer, Sir".
