What are your most beautiful memories related with rain? Mine was when I was a child, and we played with neighborhood friends running into the nearby mango farm hunting for green mangos we bring home to eat with soya sauce or salt until our lips became white for excessively acidic mangos. What about you?

Summer for us kids means no school and we had the whole day for ourselves. Every summer there is a tradition that kids should go out and play in the rain the first time it comes. Its's called Agua de Mayo or Rains of May. Folks here believe that the first rainfall during the summer has healing properties. This is the time when our parents or mostly adults would not be after us. I love playing in the rain. I love the way it feels as it peters down my face. Sometime I'd open my mouth and catch as many little raindrops as I can. There are times that it would start misty and the sun would be shining and little rainbows will be all over me. As a child, I was almost always allowed to play outdoors. I'd go to places and I was quite adventurous. Rainfall always means that my playmates would be out and our adventures are about to start again. I grew up in the province so everything looked idyllic to me. We'd wander into rice fields and if the ground was not soft we would catch grass hoppers, snails and dragon flies. We always tried to catch as many as we can. Sometimes we also took a bath in the clean irrigation waters. During the rainy season the irrigations would be full to the brim and we considered it our public pool. There would be fish swimming in it and a lot of rice field crabs. Sometimes we would fish and sometimes we would just watch them swim away. It is so sad that most children today are denied of these childhood experiences. I imagine my kid answering to this discussion a few years from now and he would s probably answer that rainfalls are not that clean anymore and they sting. Sigh. Thanks for this discussion. It really made me think about how lucky I was as a child.

I when I think about rain, and I always think about the kindergarden where I used to work. The children loved to play in the rain and we often went for a walk with the children. It took a lot of time to get everyone ready to go out, because everyone had to wear raincoats and rubber boots. The rubber boots were kept on shelf and it often hard to find the right rubber boots, because there were no names on the shelf... When we were finally ready to go, we often went to a park or a lake and when the children discovered some rain on the ground they loved to play in it and jump around in their rubber boots. It made me happy to see their joy and happiness, and it also reminded me of my own childhood.

Same with you, my great memories related with rain is when I was a Child. When I still lived in small beautiful village. My little friends and I got some raw corns from a farm near my home and we roated them with the help of my parents and ate together in front of my home while looking at rain drops.
