Ripe mangoes

India
April 16, 2010 4:38am CST
Yesterday for the first time I purchased ripe yellow mangoes here. It was available here since last week at 100 to 120 rupees a kilogram , but now it is 50 rupees, it will drop to about 20-25 and remain steady. Mangoes of many varieties will come to market too. When the price will fall we will make mango shakes, mango ice cream etc What about your place, are you getting ripe mangoes, what is the price, you like to eat mango as slices or prepare drinks from this? Please share. Happy posting, cheers Prof

Yes, I do agree with you that Philippine mangoes are one of the best mangoes you could find. It's almost available all year round. It's cost usually ranges from 20-60 pesos depending on the season. Since its summer here in our country, it is much affordable :)

Nopes, I have't bought the ripe ones yet. Waiting for the season to go to the peak when mangoes will be sweetest and cheapest. Right now I have purchased only the raw mangoes to make curries and chutneys and pickles. Cheers and happy Mylotting

Ripe Mango - Mango Slices
This is a year old discussion but because I so love mangoes I'd like to comment just the same. Mangoes could be really cheap when in season. I don't know how to convert your rupees into our peso but in our place when mangoes are in season we can get for as long as 20-25 pesos as well. Some varieties can even be bought at 5 to 10 pesos. But of all mangoes the carabao mangoes is my most favorite. I love it when fully ripened. I love eating mangoes in slice either as dessert or by itself. I also do make mange fruit juice or shake when the supply are too many but eating them in slices is the best for me.

HI Prof! Mangoes in our country, Philippines is also well known for it's delicious taste, and it;s price varies depending on the season, ussually it will be costly if it is not in season. We like to have it and eat it just as it is,sliced and ussually after a main meal, somewhat like a dessert. Some also makes a shake of it, and the most famous is our dried mangoes from cebu.

Hyderabad is famous for mangoes especially banganapally variety is very tasty there. The price is also less compared to other states. I saw riped mangoes here but only few were there in the shop. They were green in colour and I am sure they will taste sour. We have to wait for some more time to get riped and sweet mangoes. We eat cut pieces and also milk shakes.

I have many mango trees in my garden. The mango trees are just starting to flower now and I hope by July or August we'll have abundant ripe mangoes. Last year I have 12 manggo trees bearing fruits and I become santa clause distributing ripe mangoes to anyone that comes to the house or I give them a call to collect the mangoes from the house. I have too many and this year I hope it will be the repeat of last year and I may have to sell some of them. Last year a lot went to waste. I made jellies, smoothies besides slicing them for desserts.

Hello Sir, Yes, the ripe mangoes are available here too but the cost is high. Here it is Rs. 60 per Kilogram and the day before yesterday I purchased the same. Yesterday was our festival Vishu, (our New year) so I needed the fruits to prepare the ‘Kani’ (first sight) that is the reason for purchasing the same. Within week or two the price will reduce and we can purchase the same in a cheap rate. Mangoes are good in summer especially the mango shake which prepare by adding milk and sugar. It can give cool to our body and it is a healthy drink too.

hi professor oh how I envy you as I love mangoes and they are rather pricy in our US markets there, but I wonder if the nearby vietnamese 'market might get them and sell them cheaper. I live in Little Saigon here int the United States California to be exact, and the boat people landed here a few years ago and settled an area about a 25 block square area. they really have made nice friendly and good neighbors which is really nice for us Americans here.

Hello good day!!! Ohh yes mango here in our country is very rampant you can see it everyday all through out the year. I love mango from guimaras there mango out there is more sweet and delicious. Its just one of a kind. Mango per kila here it would only cost maybe about $.50 cents per kilo if its season but if its not season its only $1 or $1.50.
