Bumped into a fellow parent/friend this morning. She was so sullen! The robbers had cracked her pawnshop floor from a tunnel underground. All the jewelry, laptops, cell phones, etcetera were stolen. The police said the robbery had been carefully planned. The hidden camera was not destroyed but the film was erased. My friend was so much worried because her clients could only understand to an extent. But they would want their valuables back. The insurance coverage was also limited. Sigh! What can I tell her but I know the feeling. Robbers also frequented my home and stole my family heirlooms. But of course my friend's loss was her life's work.

i'm sorry to hear that. Indeed that nowadays criminal is clever than past days. They use technology to perform their will. I feel anxiety too with this. When i go the ATM, i feel uneasy to draw money, because i think that there will be a person could take my PIN. Fortunately, in every ATM in my town, there is always a guard police who stand by 24 hours. I hope your friend could be armed with patience for those case.

My friend is handling her situation just right. She mustered enough strength to begin investigation, pay the clients, and somehow get started again. Her credentials are sterling. I know she could begin anew.

it is really so bad to hear what happened to your friend and her business. i heard about the insurance, and yes, they are limited and not everything will be paid back. it will only be sorry for the clients if they can't get back their valuables, but it is also bad for your friend if they will force her to return their items in full. she never wanted the thievery to happen, it is not her fault... in these times of our lives, we really shouldn't be so relaxed if we have a business. i have a friend who runs a business. and even if it's not so big his business is, he employs a security service to look at the place 24/7.

sorry, but don't you think they were insiders. i heard a lot of news lately, that workers of the same establishments planned and robbed their own employers. or they could have did surveillance of the place so it happened.

i am so sorry to hear that... i know that there are bad people out there everywhere and we just can't avoid them... misfortune does happen and all i can say is, behind every incident that happens, God is always there... He will never leave nor forsake us and He will give us the strength to endure it... my prayer goes to your friend and hopefully everything can be sorted out soon... take care and have a nice day...

Thanks for the prayers. I will tell my friend that many actually sympathize with her. Am sure that she will recover and prosper even more.

Hi, eileenleyva. I am sorry about your friends stolen property. There has to be a way that the police can track down the robberies. They had this well planned, I see. They came from underneath the grounding of the floors. This is very crazy! They probably watched your friends every move. That is how they were able to get away with robbing her pawn shop. I am very sorry that this has happened. People can be so mean when they are robbing someone. All of the years that she has put into her work has gone to waste all of because of some bad robberies. But these people will never get away with robbery for too long. They are bound to get caught. I hope that the police will make it known to other businesses. These robberies may plan to sell this merchandise for money. If they do, they will be caught.

The police theory is the robbers were from a distant province. A ritual was performed from a rented shanty where they made as their entrance and exit point. Chances are, the robbers had gone away with their loot.

oh my that is sad. it's true how a lot of people have been turning into thieves these days. I have been hearing stories from my friends and neighbors how they themselves got burglarized. some people have been saying it's because of the tough economy, but personally I dont think that's an acceptable excuse.

Poverty is never an excuse for thievery. Is it the 6th commandment? Thou shalt not steal! There are many hungry people in the world. The Africans eat roots. The Filipinos subsist on sweet camote (a rootcrop). And these poor people maintain decency despite poverty. But it is also time for the haves to look and help the have-nots.

I feel sorry for your friend eileen. Nowadays robbers are alarming and dangerous they scattered everywhere even in provinces. One incident happened to us yearback ago, they poisoned our dogs, but they were not abled to enter our house. So we must secure our things and always lock our gates and doors.

Poor dogs. I wish the robbers would not resort to killing. They can take everything away. Those can be bought again. But life cannot be brought back. And pets are like family. A couple of years ago, I heard that a Labrador breeder's house was broken into. Eight of his Labs were stolen.

hi eileenleyva I am s o sorry for your friend. what a spot to be in with limited insurance and people probably upset with her, and its none of it her fault.they must have really planned that robbery ahead of time for sure. oh i suppose a pawnshop might be easy picking.why on earth cannot people work for a living instead of robbing others. I hope the police can hunt down these crooks and get most of your friend's possessions back for her.

To think that her shop was inside a mini mall. The robbers must have risked their lives to go through a tunnel and destroy the cemented floor - two feet in diameter. But they got a big loot. I really hope these people pay for their crime one day. And I am really praying my friend recovers soon. She had not slept not eaten since she learned about the robbery.

Oh I feel so bad for your friend that is horrible when everything you are working for is stolen right from under you. Yes the robbers are out there and getting away with it all. My parents just called me on Saturday to tell me that my dads bike was stolen from their driveway. They live in a gated community so much for security thought. I'm so upset about this and feel so bad because it was my dads' means of excersise that he enjoyed. I surely hope they catch these people who stole your friends belonging. In the mean time I will be praying for her.

Thanks lelin, she really asked for the prayers. The way she looked, I think she could do with medication to calm the nerves. But of course I did not suggest one. I called fellow parents for therapeutic conversations. We have a prayer and counseling brigade here. And one friend brought her bread and pastries already. There was still no appetite. But I'm sure she will be okay.

I am sorry for your friend. I also have some bad experience with the same but this time it was my niece (lesbian) and she was influenced by friends to steal from us - mostly jewelries. She bought some stuff for herself and friends, go to faraway places and go to bars despite of the fact that they are below the legal age. We are still frustrated that she is not cooperating with us. It is sad to note that robbers wants to have an easy life - getting what they want at the expense of others.

It is rather frustrating and sad when minors are involved. It is even sadder when these young people are family. I do hope that your family finds a way to rehabilitate your niece. It is not too late.
