Do you get along with your in-laws?

I always got along fine with my in-laws, even though their belief system is very different from my own. However, recently my mother-in-law has become very judgemental and now I feel like she is the typical mother-in-law. What about all of you? Do you get along with your in-laws or do you bump heads with them?

Yes. But sometimes they can get too cranky but they apologize for it. They're pretty old so i think it's normal for them. And the fact that they apologize is very admirable. Most old peeps just doesn't give a damn about anything.

That's so true about most old people not giving a damn...lol. I think they are just stuck in their ways and no longer care too much about what other people think about them, which in itself can be admirable.

According to you you seemed to have got along with your MIL. Dont get cross with her. Give her a free hand to pass judgement. Even if she is wrong let her go ahead I am sure this will work. The more you show that you dont agree with her the more she will go on doing this. So be tactful and try to understand her, things will work out fine. You must remember that any conflict between you and your MIL will only cause a problem for your husband. So take care and try to live in peace and harmony.

Yes, I agree with this statement. It is better to let things go then live with resentment or anger.

I always treat my in-laws as my parents. This will keep our relationship smooth and better understanding for ever.So dont ever think them as other people. They are also our family members. so never treat them like strangers inorder to lead a happy life.

My first year with my MIL was really bumpy. She was judgmental and thinks she's the only one who can do things perfectly, a perfectionist so to speak. There was a time when she confronted me and said very bad things that made me terribly sad, i cried a river of tears. I just let everything settle down naturally because i can never argue with someone i consider my mother, we just went separate ways. After more than 2 years she seemed to have cooled down and accepted that she cannot mold me the way she likes. And now we're okay, i'm happy to say that.
