Do you believe in the December 21, 2012 hype?

2012. That is less than 2 years from now, but the mentioned date is over 2 years in the future. Anyways, I would like to say that I personally do believe in December 21, 2012 primarily because the mayans believe that date is going to be like the second coming of Jesus Christ (the reincarnation). There will be many situations happening in 2012, like the ending of the world (also the rebirth of the new world). There will be many climatic shifts and earthquakes, like the potential 9.3 earthquake in the US, or the potential drought in areas where there is currently rain (like the tropics). Why do you think that the 7.0 in Haiti, the 8.8 in Chile, the 7.? in Indonesia, the 6.? in Baja California, and the 7.2 in Tibet all occurred within a timespan of 4 months? It's because the earth is undergoing a lot of stress. Who knows? Maybe there will be an earthquake so large, like an 8.8-9.?, that there will me no way in order to save the people. 12/21/2012. That's something.

No I don't believe in this. Well many of the scientist have looked into all the possibilities that are mentioned with related to december 21 2012. According to most of them there is very little chances of any such disastrous thing to happen.

Hmmmmmmm. It looks like many mylotters don't believe in the 12/21/2012 hype. Historical figures predicted that the world will either change or end in 2012. I think that many of these facts have been misproven or misinterpreted in one way or another. I think that the hypothesis itself is misunderstood, because there is no understanding the consequences of what might happen. So, we have to live our life to the fullest before a major disaster hits. Now, If I woul have said that the world will collapse under the weight of stress, then that would be different.

Yes, I've heard a lot about this date which is proving to be quite infamous! I'm not sure that I believe in the end of world scenario but having said this I know that the Mayan calander is supposed to come to an end on this date and no one knows what happens after that. This is quite interesting as I'm waiting for a dvd to arrive through the post and it's all about this particular date and it goes into all the facts and reasons why this date has particular significance. I'm inclined to believe that we will all still be around come December 22nd 2012! Andrew

I tell you that has been going on for several years now, they're just changing the dates but the supposedly 'facts' are the same. The first I heard of it (when I was already alive) was way back 1986 when I was in First Grade. They were already spreading frantically about the 'end of the world'. It was even said that time that only holy candles would light up during those 3days of darkness where bad souls would be taken off of the earth. We were told to be extra good that time because 'the end is near'. I could really recall that because it made me have nightmares and paranoia at an early age. The second was in 1999 where they said that when 2000 came, it will be the 'end of the world', technology would go bezerk because all technology were only set to record until 1999 and it will cause great panic all over the world thus the end of the world would come. I could also recall the stories of my grandmother and father about their experiences on the 'end of the world' talk way back when they were younger. And look at us now, we're at it again. Just imagine the earliest I experienced it was when I was about 6years old... almost 3 decades after, the world still didn't end. Plus, what's the worry about such things anyway. If truly it's the end of the world won't all of us be wiped out the earth? So why should we be afraid if everyone's going? What would be fearful is if you'll be the only one left alone - now that is what you should be afraid of.

No. I bet that when that day comes, we will just pass it off as a very ordinary day. Was twith here any proof in the past that the world event an existing civilization was destroyed in a cataclysmic event and was "reborn?" The most immediate future is the next day and yet, with all the preparations we do today, we still do not know what will going to happen tomorrow. So relax, December 21 will come and go. Besides, if a person is living in Asia December 21 will not have come yet because it is just December 20 for him :)

I do think the world is going to end someday, be it by an earthquake, by a deadly disease, a comet, a super volcano or by our own technology. However, to go as far as setting a date to the end of the world would be too much in my opinion. In the past, there were a lot more doom sayers that set a date for the end of the world and so far, that day comes and goes like any ordinary day. This is what I believe, however, I could also be completely wrong.

They say in the movie 2012 that the date December 21,2012 will be the end of the world. Personally I don't believe it since I only believe in GOD and HE is the only one know when it happens.

The world will not end on December 21, 2012. I based it off of failed predictions for the end of the world. Many people thought the world would end on January 1, 2000 because of the millennium bug. Someone said the world would end in the year 1982. That didn't happen. After 2012 pass many people will come up with another date for the end of the world.

I really don't know mlotta. I don't really think anyone does for sure. I know they mayan calendar ends then but that doesn't really prove anything. I know they made many predictions some of which were true while others were not. So did Nostradamus. I don't worry or give much thought to those sort of things. There have been so so many end of world predictions over the years and yet here we still are. The world will end when it ends. In the meantime, I am just going to live my life the best I can and not waste energy worrying about something that I have no control over.

I think and believe by 2012 there will be a drastic change and I have read also that the 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs that cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on December 21, 2012, which is said to be the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mayan Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae related to this date have been proposed, but none have been accepted by mainstream scholarship. Many New Age thinkers believe that the ending of this cycle will correspond to a global "consciousness shift". Established themes found in 2012 literature include "suspicion towards mainstream Western culture", the idea of spiritual evolution, and the possibility of leading the world into the New Age, by individual example or by a group's joined consciousness.

I have researched on this many times, especially in youtube.com where there are lots of videos to choose from. Before the movie '2012', predictions where very true and it's really happening as of today. It started from the Mayans, then Iching, the BIBLE and even the computer software tells something of 12/21/2012. Quite disturbing it is, but I think were getting to it really close. I hope that this predicted date would not be the same as the transition of 1999 to year 2000, where it was also believed as the end of days. But if the time comes, I am prepared for it!

I did watch the video on Youtube last year, the title is 2012... I had those nightmares that i did not able to sleep, it gaved me a huge fright that i felt my blood goes all to my head and my body's felt hot inside but cold outside. I really can't explain the feeling, but the panic, afraid, nervous are there. Until my sister told me that "It's natural to be afraid, because talking about the end of the world is not normal like talking about buying some clothes or something. But you have to have Faith. Not to believe on those talkings because We can't really tell what will happen in the future." Not to believe were also inside my head, but when my sister told me to have Faith, it gaved me a clearance. She have Faith and she helped me build my own Faith and i thank her for that. :D

God knows when it will happen and only God alone. I am a Muslim and I believe that the apocalypse will come. Our God states the signs of the coming of apocalypse in the Quran and we believe. However, only He knows when it will happen. So until then, it never hurt to be a better person each day. Peace! :)
